I was a former student and now my son is going to this school, since the year started I’ve tried reaching out to the school staff and they are horrible specially the attendance and transportation lady, she is not helpful at all, all she says is there nothing you can do with a nasty attitude. I tried reaching out to the assistant principal and no response, if your kid is failing no one cares, there’s fights all the time I lost count how many they had this year, kids smoke weed in the bathrooms and right across from the school and no one says anything or does anything. This is why the enrollment is lower and lower every year, tried emailing the teachers and the email was return because it was full.
My freshman year was the hardest time for me as a student in Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior Highschool, I had a teacher who made my first class of the day miserable and this kept going for the whole year. I would not lie and say I was tempted to drop out. It’s amazing how one person can just ruin your day each and every morning.I was a good student I did all of my class work and homework for that class and that teacher would accuse me of not doing the work or writing an essay in 5 minutes which still seems absurd to me especially when I struggled with English. To sum it up I went to administration to protest and complain about the situation and I was not allowed to speak with anyone. I was sent back to class. This school has many great teachers but also ones who simply don’t care and just do nothing and the counselors basically give and make it extremely hard to switch out of your electives. Besides those moments I enjoyed my stay and made good friends at HML.
While there has been alot of course work, thats on myself for taking to many AP and dual enrollment classes. But overall, the teachers are understanding and they treat you how you should be treated. Dont waste my time and i don't waste yours- one of my teachers
