Hermit of Mink Hollow is Todd Rundgren’s eighth album and the first that he was able to write and record entirely by himself. It produced one of his most popular songs, “Can We Still Be Friends”, which reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #8 on the Australian charts. And it was yet another example of how Rundgren was often ill-treated by record companies. At some point after the LP sleeves were printed, Bearsville Records, the company releasing the album, decided that the track listing was not what they wanted so they not only changed the listing, but decided to name their first, now more pop-oriented side of the album The Easy Side and to name their second, now more rock-oriented side The Difficult Side.
