Lt. Gen. Hon. Sir Hercules Robert Pakenham was born on 29 September 1781. He was the son of Edward Pakenham, 2nd Baron Longford, and Catharine Rowley.
He fought in the Peninsular Wars. He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.). He held the office of Governor of Portsmouth.
Hercules married Hon. Emily Stapleton, daughter of Thomas Stapleton, 12th Lord le Despenser and Elizabeth Eliot, on 25 December 1817 in the British Embassy Chapel, Paris, France.[1]
He died on 7 March 1850 at age 68.[2] His Obituary was carried by the Norfolk Chronicle.[3][4]
