Herbert Stein

Herbert E. Stein, 82, of Denmark, IA, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1:56 p.m. at his home. He was born on September 14, 1928 in Lee County to Harry S. & Vera Gehle Stein. He married Bonnie L. Van Horn on October 18, 1952 in Burlington, IA. He worked for 25 years as a Journeyman Machinist for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, then worked for 10 years at Murray Iron Works and later for Burlington Northern in West Burlington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and also served in the Iowa National Guard for 30 years. He was a member of the Denmark United Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Herb is survived by: his wife: Bonnie Stein of Denmark, IA; 2-daughters: Sandy Lozano of Burlington, IA & Lindia Stein of Rochester, MN; 2-sons: Joel (Susan) Stein of Eagle Grove, IA & Curtis (Angela) Stein of Fort Madison, IA; 6-granddaughters; 4-great grandchildren & 1-brother: Ted Stein of Fort Madison, IA. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 4-brothers & 2-sisters. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Chad Savage officiating. Burial will be held at the Denmark Cemetery.
