Though it's had ups and downs, Hoover High School is an adequate school focusing on student involvement and school culture. Recently, with the new administration at our school, there has been a large push for college readiness and culture. The school has always supported student events that promote different local colleges, including field trips to local universities. Yet, it has slowly become more and more restrictive towards students with newly enforced policies and rules that were previously not used nor needed.
There is a growing amount of students who try out for sports teams, and my school has great facilities for them including a pool (currently being remodeled with a $15 million grant), a track with a soccer field in the middle, three different gyms for working out, two separate gyms for basketball games, and tennis courts.
Overall, though there are some benefits to attending Hoover over another school, there are areas that need to be worked on to improve student life.

I like how involved both the students and staff are with major sports like football. I noticed many people supporting and cheering on our team at both home and away games. The worst part about my school is definitely the drug problems. Lots of people at the school are in possession of drugs and tend to do them at school very frequently. Even though in the past year it has been getting better, it is still common to see around campus. I want to see more students being engaged in class and at school in general. It would be nice if less students did drugs at school as well.
The school's education was good, and the teachers too were good, we did lots of fun projects and more.
some of the bad things were the students, causing bathrooms to continuously be closed, teachers, and staff did their best trying to help, but they really couldn't since the students just acted dumb like they had no idea what was going on. However, besides that the school was great.
Sports were big, and most people got along with others as long as they didn't start drama or anything like that most of the problems caused were really just students acting like kids.
The school wasn't too bad though if you wanted to learn and be with people who also wanted to learn you just had to get an honors class or an AP class which wasn't that hard to get into which was where I made lots of new friends and connections.
