Jane Fonda’s last husband was Ted Turner. The two were married for 10 years, from 1991 until 2001. Fonda revealed that “When I married him, I thought it'd be forever.” However, she felt she had to put her needs first when she decided to end the marriage.
“He was sexy. He was brilliant. He had two million acres by the time I left," she said. "It would have been easy to stay. But there was this angel on my shoulder … it was hard to even hear her voice, [saying], 'If you stay, you will die without ever becoming who you can be. You will not really be authentic.'"

Jane Fonda and Ted Turner are not still married. The two were married from 1991 until 2001, when they divorced. Fonda told the New Yorker of the split, “He needs someone to be there 100 percent of the time. He thinks that's love. It is not love. It's babysitting. We went in different directions. I grew up.”

Jane Fonda was married to her second husband Tom Hayden from 1973 until 1990, a total of 17 years. During the marriage, the two welcomed a son, Troy Garity, and adopted a daughter, Mary Williams.
Hayden passed away in 2016 at the age of 76.

Jane Fonda has referred to her third husband, Ted Turner, as her favorite ex-husband, as recently as January 2023.

Jane Fonda has had three children: Vanessa Vadim (with first husband Roger Vadim), Troy Garity (with second husband Tom Hayden) and Mary Williams (with second husband Tom Hayden).
Both Vanessa and Troy are her biological children whereas Mary was adopted. Fonda has said she did not feel “complete” until she adopted her second daughter.

Jane Fonda is the daughter of late actor Henry Fonda. Tragically, when she was 12, her mother, Frances Ford Seymour, died by suicide while undergoing treatment at a psychiatric hospital. Jane did not have an easy relationship with her father growing up and the two were oftentimes distant.
However, the two did appear in 1981’s On Golden Pond together. Jane described watching a particular emotional scene between the two where her father teared up when she grabbed his arm and how it made her feel. “I wish he would’ve said something like, ‘I wasn’t expecting it. That scene between us really moved me. You really moved me,'" she recalled. "I felt we were both so present. I wish he were still here to talk about it.”

She also discussed accepting her father’s Oscar on his behalf for the film.
“My father was very, very ill and he could not attend the ceremonies," she said. "He [asked if I] would receive the Oscar on his behalf and when they called his name … it was probably the happiest moment of my life.”
