The rise of Charles Manson and his "family," who are responsible for a series of famous murders in the late 1960s. Manson, a magnetic and mysterious man, attracts road-weary single mother Linda Kasabian to join his collection of outcasts on a ranch outside of Los Angeles. After murdering actress Sharon Tate, Manson and his followers are investigated by district attorney Vincent Bugliosi.

I’ve seen all the different iterations of the Manson Family story and I truly do think this is the best one, it is actually shorter than others yet covers a much broader time-frame and actually gets the story told in the most thorough yet easy to follow way. If you’re looking to watch something about this subject and don’t know what to watch because there’s so much, watch this.

The second TV Movie entitled Helter Skelter is significantly shorter than the 1976 iteration, yet covers a broader timeline of events. Focusing in on the storyline of Linda Kasabian, the movie begins with the murder of Gary Hinman and follows the murderous exploits of the Manson Family all the way through to their final trial and sentencing.
It's really shabby from a production standpoint, a lot of the acting doesn't elevate anywhere beyond 'serviceable,' and the general lack of any specific narrative angle makes for a largely perfunctory experience simply rehashing a true-yet-familiar story. Portraying Linda Kasabian as the innocent sympathetic hero of this story has sort of the same "Hmm...yeah I don't know about that" factor as the Black Panther movie where the CIA agent saves Wakanda
Not a good movie by any means but a movie I quite enjoyed. Some might find Jeremy Davies portrayal over the top but I really enjoyed his skiddish and almost catlike portrayal of Manson. The film as a whole is a clear rip off of Natural Born Killers. Hoping this gets remade again one day.
A bit dated at times technically but overall better than I expected it to be. Jeremy Davies is very good and so is the rest of the cast. One of the better Manson family movies out there for sure.
Begins with Linda Kasabian (Clea Duval) joining the Manson family at Spahn Ranch, with her infant daughter Tanya. She feels disposable, abandoned by her father, hates her stepfather, abandoned again by her husband… Charlie makes her feel seen, sees through her.
Four weeks later comes the night of Helter Skelter, when the group’s nightly creepy crawl becomes murder. Linda’s the only one who questions the killing, feels remorse.
There are many options to see these events, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This is not my favorite, though it’s serviceable.
