Great food. It was busy but we were there to enjoy ourselves so we didn't mind it took a little while to get our food. It was worth the wait.

We love The Highlander. It's a great local bar/restaurant with excellent live music. The food is always good, nice wine selection and great German beer!

First time visiting and greatly enjoyed. Atmosphere, entertainment, service, and especially the food. We will definitely be back. Recommend you try it out. It’s a drive from Helena but well worth it.

Service was awesome. We had crab cake appetizer, a Filet, and the Sea Bass. All the food was very good except for the Filet, which was overcooked and a bit tough; I suspect a lower grade of beef. I think if you avoid the Filet, you will really like this place. We will go back.

It was the perfect alternative to all of the stress of cooking a family meal for thanksgiving but with all of the home cooked staples of a fantastic thanksgiving meal.

What a beautiful place. We went for brunch around 10:00 a.m. at that time we were the only patrons. Felt like we had a beautiful farm to ourselves. It got much busier as we left. Food was great, service wonderful, and it was great fun to watch the neighborhood animals. Nice to have a final meal outside before winter hits.

Highlander continues to be our favorite lunch and dinner spot. The food is always great and the outdoor patio, surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, is our comfort place. The new owners have done a wonderful job.

Excellent staff and service. The location is excellent for outside seating or inside, but make sure you have reservations. Breakfast service on Sunday could've been a little more cost effective, but the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Dinner service here is definitely worth the ride out to Canyon Ferry. Excellent food! We will be repeat offenders for sure!

There was a large party on the grass before we arrived so the kitchen was taking care of them. We were served our wine and made a quick App order. New menu items since our last Highlander reservation. Every thing came out hot and ready to go! WE will definitely do it again!

The new owners have expanded the menu and our entrees were excellent. Highlander was one of our favorite restaurants in the Helena area because of its unique setting and overall ambience and now we'll be going even more often.

Really nice environment. We ate outside on “The Porch”. Had the rib eye, sea bass and the crab cakes appetizer. All were cooked perfectly and good meat. My wife’s Old Fashioned was perfect. The owner is there and makes sure everything is done to make customers happy. The live music was great

My husband and I both thought our dinners were very good. We had crisp fresh salads with homemade dressing, entrees were tasty and dessert was included with the meal. We will go back.

We visited on a beautiful summer evening and got the amazing experience of sitting on the deck, listening to 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay' and the like being covered by a talented local musician. We both ordered the filet and were very happy with the quality of the food. The new owner and waitstaff are very friendly. All in all, we were only disappointed that we waited so long to check this place out!

We asked our obviously-new server where their salmon comes from - as in is it Sockeye, that toxin-laced Atlantic, or toxin-laced "farm raised"? She said it "comes from Costco" so we skipped the salmon. There were large black ants climbing on the wall immediately next to our table. We both ordered rare steaks and my wife asked for hers to be closer to blue. We both received overcooked and dried out steaks that were an inconsistent variation of medium rare to medium - ruined otherwise great cuts of meat. The only dessert option sounded like that under-flavored chocolate mousse cake from Costco so we skipped that as well. Overall, this was far too expensive based on the quality received. We cannot justify returning unless we only stay at the bar and order beer.

We love this restaurant! It's small, but cozy and staff makes you feel like family. The food is outstanding! Also, the music (Lula's Roadie) was so great. We had a wonderful dinner and entertainment!

This restaurant is a little out of the way in Canyon Ferry (30 miles from downtown Helena) but was definitely worth the drive. It’s a family run restaurant and the family members are all delightful. Live entertainment was interactive with the audience. The food was very good. Definitely something a little different from your standard sit down fair.

Very nice setting. Unique bar and restaurant with wildlife all around. Wonderful live music, which is difficult to find and highly appreciated. Food was great, especially the selection of appetizers.

We ate at the Highlander for the first time last Friday and wish we had gone there more often this summer. The ambience is great. There was live music at the perfect volume, and the band, called Just in Case, was a lot of fun. The food was excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service from Gloria. She made our night. In fact, we made reservations for this week before we left!

1st timer at the Highlander Bar & Grill, so didn't know what to expect. But read sum good reviews, so thought I'd give the place uh try. And it did not disappoint. Great scenery, great staff & great food. Going back next time I'm in the Helena area!

Ribeye over priced & over cooked. 3/4 cup of garlic mashed potatoes & 2 overcooked limp asparagus served with meal was not nearly enough nor appetizing. Served incorrect mixed drinks which I thought were just made with poor quality alcohol One free dessert offered for overcooked steak & incorrect mixed drinks. Servers seemed unorganized & a little too lackadaisical considering prices.

The food was very good. While the waitress was very nice she barely came around for more drinks or water we were having to flag her down. Then the check was given to us without even asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. But overall it was very good and we'd go back.
