This place is not open right now. Wen't Halloween bar hopping this weekend. Google maps said it was opened but when we asked the bartenders at the Hayes they said they weren't doing it anymore. The bartenders at the Hayes were very nice though.

I came across a post on FB regarding 2 Halloween pop up bars in Philly, Nightmare before Tinsel and Haunt. I was eager to try them out on Saturday night. The first one I visited was Haunt, which is located on top of Pearl Tavern.
When me and hub got there around 11pm, there was no line, I thought that was weird. I was kinda expecting long lines. But hey it was a good for me so I thought..... Instead of waiting outside, we saw a seat at the bar in Pearl Tavern, so we waited inside instead. We waited approximately 35 minutes before Haunt allow people in. I was expecting something like Tinsel since ppl was raving about Haunt too. I was disappointed once I walked up the steps. It wasn't even 10% of Tinsel, very lightly decorated.... My disappointment didn't stop there, I ask the bartender for 2 sweetest drinks, she gave us something that is no where near sweet, matter of fact, it was super alcoholic. We were trying to get her change it to something else, but she wasn't willing to help us. The 2 drinks cost $29 plus I left $6 tip, so $35 totally wasted.
With my experience at Haunt, we was reluctant trying Tinsel. And the line extended all the way down the other block, we were terrified. We end up going to Bonchon instead.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 27, 2019
Came to this bar after going to nightmare after tinsel. Definitely a lot different, but enjoyed this bar. Decorations were more subtle. Liked the dark room with orange lighting and the spooky cobwebs. Nice place to relax and enjoy a drink after dealing with big crowds at tinsel.
I ordered the unicorn blood drink with bourbon, fernet, borghetti, red wine, coffee, cinnamon, and pomegranate. A lot going on it it, but it was interesting. It was in a cute skeleton tea cup mug with ice. Basically tasted like a cold alcoholic spiced apple cider. Definitely better quality drinks here than at tinsel. Drink list was a little small, wish they had a little more variety and more Halloween type drinks though.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2019
In my opinion, I have to say it's a bit underwhelming decor wise. I was also hoping the drinks would be a little more festive, they all have cool spooky names, but for example, the "blood" themed cocktail was just sangria in a regular glass.
This is not the reason I am giving this place 3 stars though. The reason is that I was particularly irked by the bartender we had. We arrived around 5:45 because we were told the upstairs bar would open at 5:30. When we got there they said it now wasn't opening until 6pm. Which was totally fine for us, so we just got a drink at the downstairs bar while we waited. Around 6:10 when the bar finally opening, we brought our half drank drinks from downstairs up with us (doesn't seem unreasonable to me) but the bartender seemed extremely annoyed by this for some reason. We planned to order drinks upstairs as soon as ours were finished, but she asked us about 6 times what we wanted to order from her (and this was not in a offering great service way, it was an obnoxious way). What really sent me over the edge is that I ordered a drink from her when I had about 1/3 of my glass of wine left, and she literally grabbed my wine and took it from me!! I had to stop her and say "excuse me I'm not done with that!" Never once have I experienced a bartender grabbing my full drink from me just because I ordered another? It was just extremely odd, I'm not sure if she was inexperienced or just truly rude.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 11, 2019
We were worried that this place would be packed, but there were open tables and a few seats left at the bar. Haunt is the second floor of Pearl Tavern, formerly Irish Pub (with the sign still hanging out front). You can just walk in and head up. The staff all had face makeup, the chandeliers were covered in cob webs and the tables and bar had little themed displays too. When you go to the bathroom, you go up to the third floor and pass the wizard... What a fun way to give directions!
Cocktails were $14, which is around on par for speakeasy's, so I figured fair enough. I had the hell Hound, which was very light - not enough flavor for me, but I expect perfectly refreshing for those who like drinks with aperol. My friend got the In Cold Blood which was more to my taste with cinnamon and fruity flavors. The themed paper straws were cute too. The waitress was great, checking in on us and keeping our waters filled. It got a little loud around 6:30 (we around closer to 5:30), but overall it was a fun way to mix up our hangout time. It doesn't hurt to go check it out! My understanding is that this is only for October, so hurry over before they take down the decorations!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 8, 2019
A bit late, but I really enjoyed Haunt as a popup bar. No, the decorations were not like Nightmare before Tinsel, but they were pretty well decorated for Halloween. The two televisions were playing horror-ish moves and most importantly, I could talk to people. Not as many people, real glassware (I hate drinking out of plastic cups now), and just a pleasant environment. The cocktails were really well done too. Not just a quick drink to look like blood, but very nicely created drinks that tasted alcoholic. The other place is a factory and you are paying for the "wow" factor. Haunt, you are paying for the atmosphere too, but a more calm one. A better place to socialize, which is what I'm after when I go out. I'd much rather catch up and talk to people, rather than hear loud music and be lost. A pleasant treat.

For a Halloween pop-up this hit most of my marks. It was not super crowded, we found a seat pretty quickly, the drinks had depth and were served in actual glassware. My drink did have a spooky touch with vampire fangs in the ice, the cocktail was not a standard well drink - which I appreciated. The decor was subtle but cozy. I loved the horror movies playing in the background. The servers were dressed up and everything overall was a chill way to toast to the Halloween season.

A second Halloween bar, that is far less crowded than Nightmare Before Tinsel. A win in my book! Good decorations, themed drinks, scary movie scenes playing on TV in the back. Candy available too! Hope they return for a second year! Love a good theme bar!
