Independence 10, Nicholas County 1
Coal City – Independence rolled Monday night, claiming a 10-1 victory in five innings over Nicholas County in the Class AA Region3 Section 2 opener.
With the win Indy will travel to Shady Spring tomorrow with a spot in the title game on the line. Nicholas County will host Liberty in an elimination game on Tuesday.
Kassidy Bradbury led the charge with five RBIs while Keandra Spurlock collected three hits for Indy.
Emma Lilly picked up the win in the circle.
Midland Trail 21, Meadow Bridge 1
Hico – Midland Trail faced little resistance Monday, rollin to a 20-1 win over Meadow Bridge in the sectional opener.
Ava Campbell went 4 for 4 at the plate with four RBIs while Raelyn Morris, Mary McGraw, Trinity Wilson and Aubrie Spencer noticed three RBIs each.
Morris pitched all five innings, earning the win.
Mount View 14, Summers County 5
Welch – Mount View capitalized on 11 walks, claiming a 14-5 win over Summers County in the sectional tournament Monday in Welch.
With the win Most View will play No. 2 River View on Tuesday.
Phoebe Dudgeon and Shiann Carter drove in a pair of runs each to lead the Golden Knights in the win.
Wyoming East 12, Westside 9 (11 innings)
Clear Fork – Wyoming East outlasted Westside 12-9 Monday night in Clear Fork, advancing into the winners bracket of the Class AA Region 3 Section 2 tournament.
Kaydee Shrewsbury and Makinlei Hatfield collected three hits each for the Warriors in the win while Kendra Cook drove in a trio of runs.
East will travel to Bluefield on Tuesday while Westside will host PikeView in an elimination game.
