The standout feature of Happy Death Day 2U is its inventive storyline. Building upon the time-loop premise established in the first film, the sequel takes the narrative to new heights. The protagonist, Tree Gelbman, finds herself once again trapped in a time loop, but this time the stakes are higher and the rules are different. The humor helps to alleviate tension and keeps the tone of the movie fresh and entertaining.
Jessica Rothe delivers a standout performance as Tree Gelbman. Her portrayal of the sarcastic and resourceful protagonist is charismatic and relatable. The film follows Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe), a college student who finds herself stuck in a time loop where she relives the day of her murder over and over again. In the original film, Tree used the time loop to solve her own murder and break the cycle, but in Happy Death Day 2U, things get even more complicated. Tree discovers that the time loop has shifted to a parallel universe, and she must team up with her friends to stop a new killer and find a way to get back to her own universe.
What sets Happy Death Day 2U apart from other horror films is its mix of genres. The film is just as much a comedy as it is a horror movie, with witty dialogue and hilarious moments that will have you laughing out loud. The science fiction elements add an extra layer of intrigue, as Tree and her friends navigate a complex web of alternate universes and timelines.
On Blu-ray, Happy Death Day 2U looks and sounds fantastic. The picture quality is crisp and clear, with vivid colors and sharp details. The sound design is also top-notch, with immersive audio that adds to the tension and atmosphere of the film. The Blu-ray also includes a number of bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes footage and deleted scenes, that offer insight into the making of the film.
Overall, Happy Death Day 2U on Blu-ray is a must-have for fans of horror, comedy, and science fiction. It's a killer sequel that builds on the original in exciting and unexpected ways, with memorable characters, clever writing, and plenty of scares and laughs. So if you're looking for a film that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Happy Death Day 2U is definitely worth adding to your collection.
The acting in particular fails to engage the audience, with performances that lack depth and emotional resonance. This lack of connection hampers any investment in the characters' fates.
The movie's attempts at humor and horror often feel forced and fail to elicit genuine reactions. The sequel's execution doesn't do justice to the intriguing concept of the original film.
Overall, "Happy Death Day 2U" is a regrettable entry in the horror genre, delivering a poor follow-up with weak acting and a narrative that fails to captivate. It's a far cry from the quality storytelling that audiences expect.
This one however took the series and made it from a horror/thriller with a black comedy sub cat to a campy scifi comedy!
I actually love it!
All the things that I loved from the first one ramped up to eleven. I also love the fact that over the course of the film the character grows even more and all the studying made her mind grow to the point she could piece who was the killer. The twist wasn't that much of a surprise really though it doesn't seem to need to be.
The movie is great entertainment and it will be going into my bluray collection not just to complete the set but to be watched again and again into the future.

I only watched the follow up because everyone kept telling me it was a different direction and nothing like the first so I went into it expecting nothing! I was very pleasantly surprised!
So the story of Tree is pretty much resolved (unless you watch the deleted ending which I think was better than the theatrical ending) so she can get on with her life..... But along comes Ryan with an interesting story to tell, one which is far too familiar to Tree!
The film switches gears pretty fast to a Sci-Fi film over a horror/comedy which I think was the right idea. Okay, there's a subplot which you could argue isn't resolved, but I'm fine with it because this really isn't a smart film.
The acting is not the best but then it feels more like the director was more interested in being pals with the cast so he didn't push them too much. No bad thing within the genre.
As for the Blu-ray. The special features are pretty rubbish. Just the basics to fill the disc.

The film was released in the United States on February 13, 2019, by Universal Pictures. It received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised Rothe's performance, as well as the film's shift to a more sci-fi tone, although some noted it as derivative of the first film. It grossed $64 million worldwide against a $9 million budget. A third film, Happy Death Day to Us, is in active development.
a good follow up to the first but is a little weaker but well worked
