Jelly Roll impressed fans with his great performance at the 2024 Stagecoach Country Music Festival, touching their hearts with a sweet tribute to the late Toby Keith that featured a surprise appearance from T-Pain.

The unexpected musical duo took on Keith's hit song "Should've Been a Cowboy," which was originally released in 1993 on his self-titled album. Fans captured the moment on video, with one sharing a clip and describing it as, "The cover we never knew we always needed 🔥."

In the footage, Jelly Roll sang the first verse, "I bet you've never heard ol' Marshal Dillon say/ Miss Kitty, have you ever thought of runnin' away?" leading into the chorus, with fans loudly singing along.

Fans reacted to the Stagecoach performance, with many sharing their surprise at the duo: "Okay who had a jellyroll and tpain duet of a Toby Keith song on their 2024 bingo card cause I sure as hell didn’t 🤣."

The comments were filled with compliments for Jelly Roll and his performance, such as a few that read, "Jelly roll killed this," "This gave me chills love it🙏," and, "He sounds so much like Toby 😔💙 Toby would be so proud."

A day before Jelly Roll and T-Pain's Stagecoach performance, the two dropped a recorded version of their cover on Amazon Music, telling Variety that all the proceeds from the song would go to The Toby Keith Foundation, which focuses on helping children with cancer.

"I had been covering 'Should’ve Been a Cowboy' for about a year now at most of my shows, just kind of honoring Toby as he was getting sick before he passed away," Jelly Roll said, talking to the publication about how the collab cover came to be. "Then I really started chewing on, man, what better place to honor Toby than Stagecoach?"

Keith died on Feb. 5 at the age of 62 after battling stomach cancer for a few years.
