About
Founded as a home for new ideas in higher education, Hampshire College is a 4-year liberal arts college in western Massachusetts. Hampshire challenges all students to create an individualized curriculum culminating in a year-long advanced study project. In addition, every student chooses two or three faculty members to serve as an advising committee . The college provides narrative evaluations in lieu of grades and does not require SAT or ACT scores for admission.
With a student body of 700, and a student/faculty ratio of 8:1, Hampshire students are guided closely as they pursue individual questions and generate original research. Hampshire is in the top 2% of institutions whose graduates go on to earn Ph.D.s, and 23% of graduates start their own business or nonprofit.
With narrative evaluations in place of grades, self-designed majors, and a truly open curriculum, Hampshire students have the freedom and agency to make their education, not just take it.

When I tell you as a former student I didn't even last till the second semester before I decided to transfer schools and it was THE BEST decision I made for me personally and for my education. I am interested in being a Vet and they did not help with my classes. They assigned classes to me that had no connection to what I wanted and any classes I did sign up for I wasn't put in. For the second semester (mind you I had a scholarship) I couldn't apply for classes unless I paid $4,000. They don't value their students education and when asked for help with an assignment they pushed you aways until you are very far behind and then they'll email you telling you how far behind you are. The scholarships they give you are false and they won't their word. Don't go to Hampshire College, it isn't worth it if you value you're education.
