Canada's whirlwind time at the World Cup is officially over following a 2-1 loss to Morocco.

The Atlas Lions topped the group thanks to a draw between Belgium and Croatia -- who advance in second place in Group F.

Canada were on the back foot early after goalkeeper Milan Borjan's grave error presented Hakim Ziyech with a gift. They rallied after falling 2-0 behind but could not complete the comeback.

Here, Sportsmail's Patrick Djordjevic rates the players who starred and stuttered for both sides.

Canada

Milan Borjan - 1

Produced his very own Loris Karius moment with a horrendous touch which turned out to be a pass straight to Ziyech who duly accepted the gift.

Partially to blame for the second goal as well, it just wasn't a great day for Borjan.

Alistair Johnston - 4

Failed to exude much of the excitement he showed during the opener against Belgium.

Steven Vitoria - 4

Struggled to deal with En-Nesyri for his goal. As the elder statesman of the rearguard, failed to get the defense adequately organized to deal with the guile of Morocco's attackers.

Kamal Miller - 3

Beaten all ends up by En-Nesyri for the second goal. Looked completely at sea in that moment and failed to flatter throughout.

Sam Adekugbe - 5

Had a hard time coping with the trickery and movement of the Moroccan frontline but showed great courage to continually bomb forward.

His low cross caused Aguerd to throw out a leg, resulting in the Canada goal. Fortunate not to be punished after the free kick he gave away resulted in an offside goal.

Alphonso Davies - 5

Looked frustrated as he largely played through the middle of the park but was frankly unable to impose himself to the same degree as vs. Belgium.

Battled fiercely but to no avail. The lack of similar talent around him was the biggest roadblock.

Jonathan Osorio - 4

Provided very little through the middle of the park for the Canadian side in what was a poor showing. Subbed off in the 65th minute.

Mark-Anthony Kaye - 4

Equally invisible as his midfield partner Osario. Provided little security when the game was at its hottest in the first half.

Tajon Buchanan - 4

His electricity was a bright spot for Canada earlier in the tournament but he could not find the space or creativity to trouble the Moroccans.

Came close to getting a meaningful touch on a Larin cross but close wasn't good enough.

Cyle Larin - 4

Offered something down the right in a powerful run and cross for Buchanan but had little impact otherwise. Perhaps should be frustrated he didn't get a greater chance throughout the World Cup.

Junior Hoilett - 5

Tried to offer some outlet for the Canadians but failed to deliver anything truly meaningful.

Atiba Hutchinson (60') - 7

Came close to scoring, and was unfortunate not to as the strike hit the underside of the bar and bounced out.

Ismael Kone (60') - 5

A nice moment for the 20-year-old to get onto the Al Thumama Stadium pitch. He contributed to the Canadian pressure late on.

Jonathan David (60') - 4

Capped off an underwhelming tournament with another sub-par display. One would expect this spurs him on far a better 2026 campaign.

Richie Laryea (65') - 5

Showed some fight, as did most of his colleagues in the second half, but failed to make a huge mark.

David Wotherspoon (76')

Just about as ineffectual as it gets. Encapsulated the tough night for many of his teammates.

Morocco

Yassine Bounou - 5

Couldn't keep out the Aguerd deflection, hard to pin that one on his shoulders, but he didn't help relieve the pressure by a slow reaction to a back pass which put the Atlas Lions under pressure.

Achraf Hakimi - 7

Showed exactly what he's capable of with one of the assists of the tournament for En-Nesyri.

Nayef Aguerd - 6

At fault for the only blemish against the Moroccan scorecard in this group. That aside, he did well to keep shape as Canada continued to press in the second half.

Roman Saiss - 7

Did well to deal with most of the Canadian advances. Showed an assuredness which earned him plaudits during his time in England with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Noussair Mazraoui - 6

The Bayern left back largely dealt with everything that came down the right but had less impact on the offensive side than usual.

Azzedine Ounahi - 7

Very lively when on the ball. Has an absolute wand of a right boot which he used to full-effect with various cross-field passes.

Had a few driving runs which caused the Canadians some nervy moments.

Sofyan Amrabat - 9

Continued his strong showing at the tournament, acting as a real anchor in the Moroccan midfield.

Ever the conduit between the defense and attack. One to watch for on Sunday.

Abdelhamid Sabiri - 5

Sabiri did what he had to do without being amazing. Subbed off in the 65th minute.

Hakim Ziyech - 8

Gifted the opening goal but did well to keep his composure. Breathtaking touch in the minutes following the opener epitomized exactly what the best of Ziyech can look like.

Ziyech could be anything in these next stages.

Youssef En-Nesyri - 8

Utterly brilliant goal by the big man who had previously failed to fire a shot, literally, in the tournament.

Showed his quality with a beautiful volley, which unfortunately for him and football purists, was ruled out for offside. Had little to do otherwise as the game changed. Did more than enough prior.

Sofiane Boufal - 7

Illustrated why there is often such a buzz when he gets on the ball for Southampton in the Premier League.

Will be an even bigger threat in the knockout stage.

Zakaria Aboukhlal (65') - 4

Was on the periphery for the entire time he moved around the pitch.

Selim Amallah (65') - 5

Managed to do enough to stifle Canada but ultimately failed to flash.

Abderrazak Hamdallah (76') - 5

Didn't produce much as The Maple Leafs continued to press toward an equalizer.

Jawad El Yamiq (77') - 5

The Real Valladolid center half came in to provide some defensive reassurance and he did that.

Yahya Jabrane (85') -  N/A

Jabrane had no time to do anything other than provide a body behind the ball.
