Earth Week is almost here, and we are gearing up for our Spring Appeal for Wisconsin’s Green Fire.
Late April is a special time of year in Wisconsin. Sturgeon are spawning, spring ephemerals are blooming, and birds are migrating back to their breeding grounds around our state. As we celebrate the gifts of nature, we are asking you to consider making a gift to Wisconsin’s Green Fire. Our focus for this fundraiser is to support research, education, and scholarships. To do the important work we’re known for, we need your continued support.
Your gift supports projects like our Conservation Pathways scholarships for underrepresented students in conservation. Your gift also funds research like our Injured Wildlife Project, which is moving into Phase 2 for a bigger and broader scope of protecting Wisconsin’s birds. With your support, we’re moving forward with our strategic priorities on climate change, drinking water contaminants like PFAS, and more!

Over fifty years ago in 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day to bring attention to environmental issues around the United States. His daughter, Tia Nelson, has dedicated her career to championing environmental stewardship and mitigating climate change. As one of our WGF Ambassadors, Tia is the voice of our Spring Appeal. You’ll be hearing more from her next week!

Over the past six months, I have learned so much from this community of expert voices for conservation. It’s like earning a master’s degree every day! Driven by our mission and vision, we continue to solidify our reputation as the go-to organization for science-based management of our natural resources.
