James Gunn recently teased Green Lantern appearing in the new DCU. While fans wait for more information on the next step for the Lanterns, cosplayer kamiko_zero points the way should anyone choose to bring Jessica Cruz to life on the screen.

Kamiko_zero unveiled the photo shoot in a post on Instagram. The post consists of two photos. The first shows kamiko_zero dressed as Green Lantern Jessica Cruz. The costume is comics-accurate, right down to the Corps logo on Cruz’s face. She is holding her Power Battery, which glows with green energy. Jessica is on an alien world, which also pulses with green energy. Jessica is clearly super-charged, and ready to take on any and all enemies of the Corps.

The second photo is a close-up shot of kamiko_zero as Cruz.

Jessica Cruz Overcame A Great Deal to Become a Green Lantern

Jessica Cruz Deserves Her Time in the Spotlight

Jessica Cruz is one of the most endearing characters to debut during the New 52 era. After witnessing a horrendous crime, Cruz becomes housebound, blaming herself for what happened. Her life changed when Power Ring, the villainous Earth-3 Green Lantern, gave her his ring. Jessica broke free of its control, and in time proved herself a great hero. Jessica so impressed the Guardians of the Universe that they gave her a regular Green Lantern ring shortly before the Rebirth era started. Jessica went on to serve with the Justice League.

Shortly before James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed control of DC’s live-action slate, Warner Bros announced a Green Lantern television show that would air on Max. Although details about the show were scant, Cruz was rumored to be involved. Yet after the commercial and critical failure of Black Adam, the powers that be at Warner Bros decided to change course and bring in Gunn and Safran. All projects were scrapped, including the Green Lantern television show. Between this and 2011’s universally-panned Green Lantern film, the character has had a rough time in live-action.
