Frank Sinatra’s music will apparently always have a place on the Billboard charts. The singer has been gone for decades, but Americans are still buying and streaming his work, and they probably always will.
This week, Sinatra maintains a solid presence on at least two rankings published by Billboard. He claims several spots on both tallies, which are closely-related–but not the same. While he does manage to keep a handful of projects on both rosters, the crooner has been pushed off the throne by a relative newcomer… though his tumble may be short-lived.
Sinatra has been replaced at No. 1 on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts. This week, rising singer Laufey has traded places with the legend on the two tallies.
Laufey’s Bewitched is back in charge of both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts. Her breakout release, which won the singer her first Grammy earlier this year, earns its eleventh week at No. 1 on these two rankings. It climbs from the runner-up rung on both lists.
As Bewitched flies to No. 1, Sinatra steps back to the runner-up rung to make room for Laufey. His Ultimate Sinatra compilation is comfortable at No. 2 on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts this week, down just one peg.
On the Jazz Albums tally, Sinatra fills four spaces on the 25-spot tally. His greatest hits sets Nothing But The Best (No. 6), Platinum (No. 11), and Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection (No. 15) also manage to find space on this list. His performance is nearly identical on the Traditional Jazz Albums ranking.
For her part, Laufey fills three spaces on the same two rankings. In addition to Bewitched rising to No. 1, her Everything I Know About Love full-length is a non-mover at No. 3, while the Typical of Me EP also carves out space, landing closer to the bottom of both rosters.
