I enjoyed going to Midtown High School these last four years. Especially my last two because we have so much resources when it comes to preparing to take those next steps in college. Overall I will say I wish there was more student culture. We aren’t really allowed to do things like rallies, student weeks or anything like that. They’re planned out but we can never get them to happen. Those things are important because students should be proud of our school.
I would like to seem more teachers that are understanding about grades and homework because students are too stressed out with other after school activities in their life. Plus, I would like to see more teachers to care more about successful grades, instead of giving them 50% or 70%.
Starting in the middle of second semester was a nerve racking feeling, but the teachers and staff are for the most part friendly and welcoming!
The best part of my experience at Midtown high school is the student involvement. Students take on huge roles in forming how our school operates.
My time at Midtown High has been a mixed experience, featuring standout art and AP programs. The art program, a true gem, fosters creativity with diverse classes and passionate teachers. Simultaneously, the challenging AP curriculum demonstrates the school's commitment to academic excellence. However, inconsistent teaching quality and a lackluster administration mar the educational landscape. While art teachers excel, some instructors fall short, and administrative communication issues persist. Despite challenges, Midtown holds potential for an outstanding learning environment with improvements in teacher consistency and administrative support.
My personal experience within the school was fairly calm. The teachers are great -- the available facilities are awesome as well. You can always ask someone for help on pretty much everything. There isn't any negative energy at all within the school -- it's all about respect and support.
Midtown HS is a great school! The academic standards are very high, the teachers and administrators are super supportive, and there is something for everyone! The school is incredibly diverse with race, socio-economic status, gender, religions, etc. Parents are highly involved, and are financially generous to ensure the school receives additional programs.
So many different classes offered, and lots of resources available to all students. Overall great environment
Midtown High School is a strong public school, probably one of the best options available for public school in the Atlanta area. Both my brother and sister went to MHS and now I am soon to graduate in May. Overall it is a great school for people willing to learn. It offers AP Classes, and honors courses along with clubs and activities. Although I would not be as successful at this school without my siblings, because MHS does not give its students the information they need. I was never told how much AP Classes mattered when it came to college or how being involved in clubs and activities would affect my applications, I just knew because of my siblings. Midtown could do a better job informing their students from the day they start Freshman year about how important it is to get involved in their school.
A very strong united community that works hard on school and is always in a positive mood. I have loved my experience here and it has really prepared me for the future.
My time at Midtown High School has been quite a ride! I've had some ups and downs, but overall, it's been an unforgettable experience.
The best part of my time at Midtown High has definitely been the friendships I've made. I've met some awesome people who have become like family to me. From the friends I hang out with at lunch to my lacrosse teammates, I've built some incredible relationships.
On the flip side, the workload is a challenge. Balancing homework, extracurriculars, and a social life can be tough, and it feels like I never have enough time to relax and recharge.
What I'd like to see change at Midtown High is more support for students' mental health. The pressure to excel academically and participate in extracurriculars can be overwhelming. It would be great if the school could offer more resources, like counseling or stress management workshops, to help us cope with the stress.

Everyone had told me that high school is stressful and can be lonely. Naturally, I became worried about high school. However, Midtown High School has been the best for me as I have learned who I am as a person and discovered what pathway I am interested in. By attending honorary and community-based clubs, I learned the importance of working hard and having a simple smile. Plus, several of my teachers recognized my talents by giving me advanced knowledge, and constructive feedback, and encouraged me to push beyond my boundaries.
In August, I applied to my top colleges and have been busy applying for scholarships. Unfortunately, my counselor was busy focusing on the upcoming 2023-2024 schedules and could not assist until late fall. I would like for my high school to obtain counselors who are able to help all students no matter where they are in the education curriculum.

My experience was really fun and very challenging and the work helped me in life all my teachers were so nice and inspiring, I’ve met many friends and everyone is so friendly and I honestly miss going to school here!
Attending what is formerly "Grady High School" was a great experience that every kid should experience. Being able to be apart of not only your school but other schools because of how APS is so interconnected is very unique.
Academically, a parent values the assurance that the Leadership of the school their child attends provides a school climate that nurtures academic achievement and success. I can fully attest to the profound sense of comfort that the faculty of Midtown High gave me knowing that her success as a student was paramount. The care, professionalism and attentiveness extended to her mother and I in this collaborative endeavor was priceless. Mr. Brandhorst's dedication to empowering his students; his passion to inspire them to continuously to hone their creative skills; and the opportunities he provides for them to fully express themselves, has provided value beyond measure. Under the leadership of Dr. Betsy Bockman, has been committed to the academic achievement and overall success of all the students who attend. I am a proud parent of a graduate from Midtown High School.
Midtown is great if you challenge yourself and take the harder classes. It is a public high school though, so you get your fair share of crappy teachers. My honors chemistry teacher made that class hell.
My experience at Midtown High School. Four crucial years on my highs school experience summed up into a paragraph. I would begin by highlighting the welcoming environment. There’s always a teacher nearby if you are in need of help emotionally or physically. Transferring to Midtown High School from a third world country also showed me many new opportunities. An uncountable amount of clubs and after school activities inclusive to all students. If I would have to change something it would be the racial unconscious bias, I’ve tend to notice amount the staff of Midtown. Being a half split between white and black students it’s almost as if less is expected from the black students on a daily basis. The also shows in the lack of diversity among Ap classes. As the first time I pushed myself to take an Ap was my senior year, that class was Ap lit. Regardless of the fact I truly enjoyed my time at Midtown High School and the opportunities I was awarded with!
