I highly recommended this Gorilla School series especially for anyone who enjoyed orangutan diaries. It follows the story of 4 infant Western lowland gorillas, 3 brought up at Howletts in UK and 1 orphaned in Gabon after family was killed by poachers. All 4 gorillas are being taught how to survive in the Gabon jungle in the hope that they can evenually be completely released and independant as wild gorillas. The aim of the Howletts team and conservationists out in the field is to repopulate a million acre forest in Gabon with gorillas in an area where they previously went extinct. The ecoguards work tirelessly to protect this forest from poachers but they do come into conflict with armed poachers during this series. We also see 2 other groups of gorillas that are now successfully living wild and free in the forest and that were previously released by Howletts, one group now has 3 wild born babies of their own. It is confusing as to why they have a mountain gorilla baby on the from of the dvd cover though as the infants in this series are all Western lowland gorillas in Gabon. 5 out of 5 stars and one to watch time and again!

It shows the work, expertise and dedication of the conservationists associated with this project. The bonding shown between the humans and the gorillas (both these orphans and previously released captive gorillas) is heart warming.

After watching a clip on you tube where the presenter went back to the jungle where he released the gorilla 5 years previously I was absolutely astounded by what followed - truly amazing and the whole series contained in this DVD was fascinating, these animals are very clever and show emotions on a par with humans, perhaps even superior, as in my opinion I do not think they would lie and cheat like humans.
