Goodbye to the Island became Tyler's final album under RCA, and in many ways it's her strongest. It feels a lot closer to the sound and feel she always wanted to record, with strong rock and R&B influences. The title track and "Wild Love" should have been hits, had the album been released five years sooner, and "I'm Just a Woman" is a great bluesy opener. Goodbye to the Island has aged really well, but it was way behind current popular trends when it arrived in January 1981, though it paved the way for a huge comeback with Faster Than the Speed of Night just a few years later.
