      Critics Consensus

Gone in the Night has a handful of interesting ideas, but they're largely undone by some deeply questionable storytelling choices.

Mr. Hollywood With a better director and someone other than Ryder this couldve worked. Started interestingly enough but then it fell flat. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/29/22 Full Review Tony Movie was really slow and was no action or horror. Movie sucked wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else. In fact already steered a few people away from it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/22 Full Review Margaret It was very disappointing, almost stupid. It was a waste of money. We loved the other two movies we saw in the last two weeks, but this was soooooooooooo below par. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/22 Full Review Demaurice I couldn't follow the plot of the movie, it didn't make sense to me. Skip this one!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/22 Full Review peacefairy Slow and really doesn’t keep your attention. The real show was in the next theater over where obviously at least one woman was fighting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/19/22 Full Review JP Twist I wasnt expecting! Love Winona Ryder and Dermot Mulroney! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/17/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Even when the story doesn’t pop, Ryder is terrific. Aug 8, 2022 Full Review Lisa Kennedy New York Times Twists galore follow, the torque of which surprises again and again. Aug 4, 2022 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Despite the star performance by Winona Ryder and an intriguing setup, Gone in the Night is destined to fade quickly from our memories. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 20, 2022 Full Review Damon Wise Deadline Hollywood Daily The good news is that Ryder is easily the best thing about Eli Horowitz’s debut feature, a twisty thriller that packs a lot of intelligent ideas into a puzzle structure that, somewhat counterintuitively, takes the viewer’s attention away from them. Sep 16, 2023 Full Review Marshall Shaffer Decider This pseudo-genre fare can’t commit to much of anything and, as a result, becomes mostly nothing. Dec 6, 2022 Full Review Pete Vonder Haar Houston Press The premise is an overly familiar one, but one that could still work if we hadn't spent half the movie chasing red herrings that would've been a lot more interesting.
