      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

With just enough human drama to anchor the sweeping spectacle of giant monsters smashing everything in sight, Gareth Edwards' Godzilla satisfyingly restores the franchise's fire-breathing glory.

David Sims AV Club Every time Edwards' Godzilla rears up, you stiffen with excitement. Every time he roars, Edwards wants you to feel it and wince. Sep 22, 2016 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire 'Godzilla' doesn't feel cynical; there's a sense of joy to the picture, of honest-to-God fun, which separates it from many of its summer movie brethren. Jun 18, 2016 Full Review Richard Lawson Vanity Fair This isn't a thinking man's Godzilla, exactly, but it's certainly clever where it counts. Jan 5, 2015 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) It’s a stunner in every sense of the word. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Wael Khairy The Cinephile Fix Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla is a beast of a film, and while it does brush its thick tail close to greatness, it is not without its flaws. Oct 8, 2023 Full Review Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Godzilla focuses more on the human characters than on the monster fights, and despite the narrative balance needing some adjustments, it surprisingly works quite well. The suspenseful build-up works in favor of the climactic third act. Rated: B+ Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Chanr3y k I love this movie, it has an awesome slow buildup to everything and has really great human characters, which I honestly don't understand peoples hatreds towards Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Dan R Pretty good reboot for the series, story was pretty dry, CG and action scenes saved the movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review vincent k Visuals were very good, except a lot was done in the dark of night. The story line should have been much stronger. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/24 Full Review BOBER E Фильм довольно хорош, но есть одно но, там слишком мало Годзиллы, казалось бы, фильм про Годзиллу, но нам мало его показали Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review Ryan T Impressed with its engaging plot, clear narrative exposition, and emotionally coherent characters' dynamics. The film expertly balances thrilling monster battles with deep, thoughtful explorations of environmental and ethical dilemmas, backed by solid character relationships that enhance its depth and appeal. Whether you're a franchise fan or new to Godzilla's world, this film delivers both excitement and substance, making it a must-watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/04/24 Full Review Christian W A pretty average film that did start a film series that I enjoy. Film that hits with its monster moments but ultimately drags with its human characters. The movie starts like it is trying to portray the same message of the original Godzilla but then it goes away from that really quickly and just turns the humans into exposition dumps and gives them nothing interesting to do. The best thing Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character did was give us the moment where he was almost killed by a Muto and then Godzilla atomic breaths the monster down it's throat. One thing I do love though is the scale they put the monsters at, you feel just how much bigger they are than the humans. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
