After producing five remixes of “God only knows,” Joel and Luke decided to make a final version of their K-LOVE Fan Award-Winning Song of the Year but not have it be a remix. Instead, after the Smallbone brothers heard Dolly Parton sing the chorus and she fell in love with it, the three of them decided to record a studio cover of the song.
The song premiered live via YouTube at midnight on August 30th, 2019, similar to the “Timbaland Remix” with Echosmith.

When I first heard “God Only Knows” I thought it was one of the best songs I’d ever heard. I came from a very spiritual background, and I love anything to do with inspirational songs that lift people up. I feel that this is a good song for right now, and it’s so well written.
