Actor Jimmy Stewart’s Brentwood Bachelor Pad Just Sold for the First Time in 60 Years
The late Hollywood icon's one-time home was on the market for just two weeks and sold for $8.26 million.
The Brentwood, Los Angeles home where Jimmy Stewart spent some formative bachelor years has just sold for the first time in 60 years. The late Hollywood star shared the home with actors Johnny Swope and Burgess Meredith in the 1940s. Stewart lived there for nine years, until he married model Gloria Hatrick McLean in 1949. It has been in the same family since the 1950s and was sold in a trust sale for $8.26 million, with an original asking price of $7.75 million.
While the interiors of the space are in great condition, sources have speculated that the specifics of the listing imply that a tear-down may be most desirable. The listing states, “This trust sale offers just under 1/2 acre of flat land in one of the most premier and exclusive locations of Los Angeles.”

Located in one of L.A.’s most exclusive enclaves, the 4,600 square foot ranch-style house was built in 1938, and features a semi-open floor plan with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a two car garage.
