Diese Diskografie ist eine Übersicht über die musikalischen Werke des britischen Musikers Paul McCartney, solo und zusammen mit seiner Band Wings. Den Quellenangaben und Schallplattenauszeichnungen zufolge hat er bisher mehr als 101,9 Millionen Tonträger verkauft, davon alleine in seiner Heimat über 22,5 Millionen, damit zählt er zu den Interpreten mit den meisten verkauften Tonträgern weltweit. Seine erfolgreichste Veröffentlichung ist die Single FourFiveSeconds mit über acht Millionen verkauften Einheiten.

Einführung

Paul McCartneys erstes Soloprojekt entstand bereits 1966, als er noch Mitglied bei den Beatles war. Er komponierte die Musik für den Spielfilm The Family Way. Der gleichnamige Soundtrack wurde 1967 veröffentlicht. Nach der Trennung der Beatles erschien 1970 das Album McCartney, das von ihm – mit etwas Unterstützung seiner Frau Linda McCartney – fast alleine komponiert, eingespielt, aufgenommen und produziert wurde. Im Februar 1971 veröffentlichte er mit Another Day/Oh Woman, Oh Why seine erste Solosingle. Es folgte das Album Ram, das als Gemeinschaftswerk von Paul und Linda McCartney im Mai 1971 auf den Markt kam. Aus diesem Album wurden mehrere Singles ausgekoppelt. Am erfolgreichsten war die Single Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey/Too Many People, die in den USA Platz 1 der Billboard Hot 100 erreichte und mit einem Grammy Award ausgezeichnet wurde. Im Dezember 1971 erschien das Album Wild Life. Es war das Debütalbum der von Paul McCartney neu formierten Gruppe Wings. Die Gruppe, deren Besetzung im Laufe der Zeit häufig wechselte und nur im Kern mit den Mitgliedern Paul und Linda McCartney und Denny Laine stabil blieb, nahm insgesamt sieben Studioalben auf. Das letzte war Back to the Egg aus dem Jahr 1979. Zusätzlich erschien 1976 das Livealbum Wings over America mit Aufnahmen der USA-Tournee aus demselben Jahr. Im Mai 1980 erschien mit dem Album McCartney II eine Rückbesinnung Paul McCartneys auf den Beginn seiner Solokarriere. Wie 1970 hatte er die Stücke alleine eingespielt und produziert. 1981 wurde die offizielle Auflösung der Wings bekannt gegeben. In der Folgezeit erschienen bis zum Jahr 2020 sechzehn weitere Studioalben von Paul McCartney. Das bislang letzte im Jahr 2020 unter dem Titel McCartney III. Neben den Studioalben erschienen seit 1990 (Tripping the Live Fantastic) regelmäßig Livealben zu McCartneys Tourneen. Paul McCartney arbeitete außerdem als klassischer Komponist, beginnend mit Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio im Jahr 1991 erschienen bis dato fünf klassische Werke. Nebenbei verfolgte McCartney einige Nebenprojekte wie The Fireman oder Twin Freaks, mit denen er mehrere Tonträger veröffentlichte.
