What is Unforgotten Season 5 About?
Viewers heartbroken after the Season 4 finale will be reassured by a returning show that The Guardian (UK) says is “as taut and tense and pleasurable as ever.” As Season 4 wrapped up, we saw DCI Cassie Stuart involved in a violent car crash. Family and friends gathered at the hospital, and DI Sunny Khan was moved to propose to girlfriend Sal. In the end, Cassie didn’t make it. Sunny eulogized his close friend and mentor and plunged into deep grief.
As Season 5 begins, our investigative police unit, especially Sunny, is still mourning the loss of DCI Stuart. Enter the business-like and abrupt new boss, DCI Jessica James, to investigate the discovery of human remains in a newly renovated home in West London. She needs to be at the top of her game, but her first day on the job is marred by a crushing surprise in her family life. How will a grieving team and a fractious boss ever find their rhythm?

The Cast of Unforgotten Season 5
Guest stars Martina Laird, Ian McElhinney, and Max Rinehart Sinéad Keenan (Little Boy Blue, Being Human) joins the cast as DCI Jessica James, who leads the investigative team alongside Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Sandman) as DI Sunil “Sunny” Khan. “Unforgotten will thrive,” says The Telegraph (UK). “Keenan is great, Bhaskar provides continuity, and the format is unshakeable.”
Cast returning to the police unit are Jordan Long as DS Murray Boulting, Carolina Main as DC Fran Lingley, Georgia Mackenzie as pathologist Dr. Leanne Balcombe, and Pippa Nixon as DC Kaz Willets. Michelle Bonnard reprises her role as Sunny’s partner and now fiancé, Sal.
As the murder mystery unfolds, the past lives of several central suspects are explored. Special guest actors include Rhys Yates (The Outlaws, Silent Witness), Martina Laird (Summerland, The Bay), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, Derry Girls), and Max Rinehart (Jekyll and Hyde, Miss You Already). Hayley Mills (1960’s Pollyanna) will also play Tony’s wife, Emma.
