Built in 1890 by the very wealthy businessman Chung Kent Quee one of the richest men in Penang, Adjoining the mansion is a temple honouring Chung and it contains a life size statue of him.
The mansion is stunning inside and contains hundreds of Peranaakan antiques.
The mansion now a museum is dedicated to Penangs Peranaaken history and culture.
It shows how the very wealthy lived in that time .
Entry fee was 25 Ringgit per person .

We had a good walk around, lovely nature up there to see, great views if the weather is on your side if not you will see very little.
Places to eat and drink, a couple of religious places to visit and a few old buildings.
We found it easy to get there from GeorgeTown on the public transport.
From the bus depot number 204 bus, took about 40 minutes, cost 2 Ringgit per person, very good value.

The food available at the hotel was good too, like nyonya curry laska, aglio olio - al dente spaghetti (from Mangga), prawn mee, dhal (breakfast), and the dining experience at Indigo was not to be missed. - DavidjellisLowestoft, UK8,813 contributionsMy wife and I visited on a cruise ship excursion and we had just under an hour here to enjoy the pretty surroundings. It's an easy walk and fairly flat. There are many interesting plants and trees to see, and our guide explained that the gardens were mainly known for its trees and plants, in contrast to botanical gardens elsewhere that focused on flowers.
There are wild macaque monkeys here...just don't go too near or wave any bags around as they will try to grab the bag on the premise there might be food inside. We loved the fascinating cannon ball trees, the cannon balls are really odd plants that apparently smell rotten on the inside. We could have easily spent longer here but we were on a tight timetable.
The gardens are located at Jalan Kebun Bunga and it is Malaysia’s only botanic gardens. There are many ferns and cactus houses too, including some rare species.

And the staff is very passionate about it. We got a private tour and it was very fun and informative. You can try many different music instruments- it is just awesome!

This museum is seriously fantastic. For those who are huge foodies. For those who want to learn some history and fun facts as well as for those who like good photo opportunities!
I think the designers did an amazing job and the exhibitions were easy to follow, very engaging and fun.
We spent an hour to go through the whole museum and it was great from start to finish.
