Eugene Hume, also known as Gene Sheldon, was an American actor and mime artist, who appeared as Bernardo in the Disney Television series Zorro and specials. He also appeared as Roderigo in Babes in Toyland, Sam Treat in Toby Tyler, and appeared in "The Golden Horseshoe Revue" on the Disney anthology show commemorating it's 10,000th performance.

Sheldon was born in Columbus, Ohio and started off as a stage assistant to his father's magic act before finding work as a radio announcer in Toledo. He also learned how to play instruments such as the banjo which would incorporate into his comedy acts. He made his film debut with 1934's Susie's Affairs. He would go on to appear in films such as Roberta, Golden Girl, Star of the Circus, The Dolly Sisters, Where Do We Go from Here?, and 3 Ring Circus.

Outside of films, Sheldon primarily worked with stage productions such the Broadway revue Priorities of 1942 and variety shows. Many of his acts where showcased on television shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show, The Merv Griffin Show, Kraft Music Hall, The Colgate Comedy Hour, The Mike Douglas Show, The Joey Bishop Show, and The Hollywood Palace.

He retired from performing in the 1970s and died from a heart attack in 1982. His remains were cremated.
