- Mole26Hockley, United Kingdom116 contributionsGreat boat tourBooked a Fjord tour whilst on the P&O Iona Norwegian voyage. A nice bright day and some lovely scenery on an up and back boat tour. Comfortable seats inside. But highlights really attained by standing on the top deck. Good close up views of various waterfalls.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 16, 2023
- Grethe M1 contributionFjord Helicopter RideIt was the most stunning flight I have ever been on. The pilot went out of his way to fly where we got the best scenery. He was explained how different the landscape could change with the different times of the year, how people lived in some of the most remote places. This is a much flight you would never forget.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 13, 2023

We had a bus tour to the top and the view was incredible even though it was rainy and windy at the top. Our tour also took us to the other viewpoint called Eagle Pass, which was just as awesome, but we did have some clouds come in to block the port where the cruise ship was. The whole country has views like this and this happened to be the first port we stopped in.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 5, 2023

A beautiful trip into the Port. Fortunately, Celebrity van pull up to the dock. When you get off you are right in the middle of this small town. Tourist info is also right there. They're are lots and lots of RV's here. Took the shorter bus tour which included 2 15 minute stops at different sides of the fjord. Views were breathtaking even with the cloudy weather. The driver really deserved his tip with all of the sharp turns and narrow lines that he had to negotiate.

A very good way to see a lot of the Geiranger Fjord is t take the ferry between Hellesylt and Geiranger. It takes about one hour and provides spectacular views and interesting stories about the people who farmed on the mountainside and the water falls the Seven Sisters among others. This is a car ferry and there is a café on board. Highly recommended!

Geiranngee Fiord is spectacular and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We took a cruise down the fiord for one and a half hours and went up to the sky walk which is a half an hour drive. So many beautiful, spectacular views.

A lovely stop in Norway one of my favourites.
If your on a cruise ship make sure you are up and watching as your sail through this beautiful fjord.
We seen sun and ice in the same sailing, it's truly spectacular.
The place itself is lovely for a stroll, look round the shops, admire the views and find the waterfall just passed the shops.
Enjoy

Stopped in at this destination for a few hours very nice. Just a couple eating spots and cafes. Only one road in and out. Quiet little spot to visit. Not a lot to do or see but worth the stop in.

We spent two days in Geiranger and thoroughly enjoyed it. We took the car ferry froim Hellesylt to Geiranger. It is a long, but beautiful trip. The many waterfalls, tall mountains, homes, and fresh snow provided many camera opportunities. The village of Geiranger is walkable, with many small shops, restaurants, and tourist activities.

Ci sapreste consigliare quali escursioni fare?

Are you asking how long it takes to to travel from Hellesylt to Geiranger? We took a car ferry in May 2002, since there were road closures due to snow and avalance damage. The ferry was between 1 - 2 hours one way, and was a very pleasant trip.

We will be there on a cruise in August. Is there anyway to get around to see things other than a cruise excursion?

We will be docking in Geiranger with a cruise ship. Booking kayaking directly is much cheaper than via the cruise company. If not booked via the cruise company, wow would we get from the ship to the kayaking area?
Also, are we allowed to get off/on the cruise ship whenever we want?
thanks!

Usually the company will meet you at the ship for transport. If not or if they do not give you clear directions--- then I would not book with them. Most ALL reputable tour companies will meet cruise ships.
