On August 24, Ellen Page and Ian Daniel will take viewers on an emotional trip to Orlando, Florida in the Viceland special, “Gaycation Presents: Orlando.” Focused on the aftermath of the worst mass shooting in American history that took place at the gay nightclub Pulse, the duo spoke with a diverse group of individuals affected by the horrendous act of violence committed against the LGBTQ community.
“Losing so many at once, it’s almost impossible to deal with,” says a woman in the first trailer released. “Gaycation Presents: Orlando” includes one survivor’s harrowing story of escaping the night club and another’s day of burying one pair of friends. The special hopes to shed a glimmer of light and show that the seeds of love and recovery for Orlando are possible and that the strength of the community — LGBTQ and beyond — will persevere.
“Gaycation” is an Emmy-nominated reality series which follows Page and her best friend Daniel as they set off on a personal journey to explore LGBTQ cultures around the world. The second season of the critically-praised show will return September 7 at 10:30pm.
“Gaycation Presents: Orlando” will air August 24 at 10pm.
