The production ushers in a new Encores! tradition, celebrating the community-building potential of iconic American musicals. Gavin Creel (Hello, Dolly!, The Book of Mormon), Shoshana Bean (Wicked, Waitress), and Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton, The Color Purple)’s September concerts filmed at Connecticut’s Westport Country Playhouse will debut on television this January 2022 on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS Video App.

The concerts will run for three consecutive Fridays at 9:00pm ET. The airtimes are as follows: Gavin Creel (January 7). Shoshana Bean (January 14) and Brandon Victor Dixon (January 21).

Gavin Creel blazed onto Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie and instantly became one of the theater's favorite leading men, with starring roles in Hello, Dolly!, She Loves Me, Hair and more. Now, the Tony and Olivier Award-winner brings humor, heart and irresistible charm to an intimate evening of story and song. Kicking off with a celebratory "Lulu's Back in Town," Creel continues to shine with performances of "Something's Coming" from West Side Story, Sondheim's "Another Hundred People," and a stirring rendition of "I Have Confidence," connecting the songs to his life and personal journey. Other selections include "Unfinished World," one of 16 songs written by Creel for Walk on Through, a project commissioned by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and their first live performance since March 2020. Directed by Andrew C. Wilk, with long-time Creel collaborator Mary-Mitchell Campbell as Music Director.

In 2018 and 2019, Broadway star and Billboard #1 recording artist Shoshana Bean began a holiday tradition with her acclaimed, sold out ​shows at ​the ​Apollo. ​In 2020, Shoshana filmed a ​documentary ​concert event at our legendary theater entitled ​​Sing Your Hallelujah​. This December, she returns to perform that concert live. ​

Sing Your Hallelujah​ ​captures the spirit of connection, reflection and joy. With fresh interpretations of holiday classics and appearances by very special guests, this year’s concert honors the nostalgia and comfort of tradition while embracing new reasons to sing! I Put a Spell on You: The Sanderson Variant

I Put a Spell on You is a spoof of and tribute to the beloved cult classic movie Hocus Pocus. Once again, the Sanderson Sisters return with a COVID-safe visual album complete with larger-than-life performances and choreography, over-the-top costumes and makeup, unmatched production value, and a healthy dose of Broadway magic.

Jay Armstrong Johnson, the event’s creator, returns as Winifred Sanderson with Allison Robinson and Amanda Williams Ware as sisters Sarah and Mary. Broadway stars joining their adventure are Nick Rashad Burroughs, Gavin Creel, J. Harrison Ghee, Todrick Hall, Robyn Hurder, Eva Noblezada, Ahmad Simmons, Heath Saunders, Jonathan Burke and Will Swenson.

Tony and Olivier Award-winner Gavin Creel was a museum novice for most of his 20 years living in New York City. Invited to create a program for MetLiveArts, he spent countless hours over the past year exploring the Museum’s galleries, finding inspiration, and falling in love with The Met.

Experience Creel’s newfound passion and sense of wonder for The Met in his newly composed songs that make the art sing.

There will be two performance times on Monday October 25th: 6pm and 8:30pm ET.

Proof of vaccination and wearing a mask will be required at a minimum.
