Gary Lineker names the Leicester player who was truly ‘heroic’ against West Brom

Leicester City have returned to the top of the Championship table after running out 2-1 winners over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The Foxes opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Wilfried Ndidi before Jamie Vardy doubled their lead in the 65th minute at the King Power.

Both Leicester goals came against the run of play, with the Baggies dominating for much of the match.

The hosts even had an opportunity to make it 2-0 via a penalty just before the break, but Vardy’s spot kick hit the post.

West Brom had 18 chances, of which six were on target, but out of all those, just one went in, Jed Wallace halving the deficit 14 minutes from time.

The visitors also hit the bar, while Hamza Choudhury made three vital goal-line clearances to keep the Foxes in the driver’s seat.

What did Gary Lineker say about Leicester City and Hamza Choudhury?

Former Leicester striker Gary Lineker was a relieved man after the game, joking that watching the Foxes “should carry a health warning”.

Writing on X, the BBC Sport pundit also lauded the “heroic” Choudhury for his superb performance.

What else has been said about Hamza Choudhury’s display for Leicester v West Brom?

The Leicester Mercury gave the 26-year-old an 8 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the day, with no other player receiving such a high mark.

‘He was too slow on the ball to start and was caught out of position too,’ they wrote.

‘But then he produced a masterclass in reading danger, making three brilliant goal-line clearances.

‘Buoyed by that, he then raced around making good interventions.’

What Championship games are left for Leicester this season?

Leicester host fellow promotion chasers Southampton at the King Power next Tuesday (23 April).

The Foxes then head to Preston North End on Monday 29 April and then see out the season by hosting Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 4 May.
