Sharol June Hooper Stine

Apr 24, 2024

Sharol June Hooper Stine, 80, of New Martinsville, WV surrounded by family finished her race on April 21, 2024.

Sharol was born on December 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Ray E. Hooper and Mary Virginia Potts of Weirton, WV.

Sharol is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Gary) Walker of Quaker City, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Faye Kocher, and sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Stine and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Bill Stine, sister-in-law, Deborah Livingston, and brother-in-law, Dave Stine.

In 1965, Sharol married Bill and they began their life together. For 48 years they lived in New Martinsville where she was a homemaker. They raised their 3 children: Greg (Teresa) Stine of Morgantown, Jeff (Jessica) Stine of New Martinsville and Mary Jo (Matthew) Childers of Mineral Wells, WV. Sharol and Bill loved to spend weeks at the Outer Banks together. She loved the beach, and she loved sharing that time with her family. She also cherished the time spent with her loving sister, Carolyn Walker and brother-in-law, Gary.

Sharol had a love for her dogs. Molly, Max, Bailey, and Minka. They held a special place in her heart. We imagine they were all waiting on her…tails wagging.

One of Sharol’s greatest joys in this world was being called “Grandma” or “Gram Gram” by her 6 beautiful grandchildren, Noah Stine, Olivia and Joshua Stine, Addy (Jonah) Zehrung, Jude and Sophia Childers. Her laugh would light up the room and nothing made her happier than laughing with her grandchildren. She was known for teaching her grandchildren her ornery antics and practical jokes.

Sharol’s biggest legacy was her love for her Lord Jesus Christ! She was a loyal wife, a wonderful Mom who raised her children to love the Lord with all their heart. She fought a valiant fight with the awful disease of Alzheimer’s. It robbed her of her memories, and her time with her children and grandchildren but it didn’t steal her joy! She would always say “Laughter is the best medicine…and I am just self-medicating!” And we know that Mom had the last laugh! She is restored to complete health. Death has been defeated and she is spending her days in Heaven with her loving husband and her Savior! She has won the battle!

Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, W.V.

Private Interment at Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, WV, at the convenience of the family.
