The author, Lawrence P. Gooley, showed in this book that Robert Garrow could move through the justice and correctional systems of New York State easier than he moved through the woods of the Adirondacks. Garrow used the legal system and client privilege to muddy the NYS justice system so well that he was able to get into a medium security prison, Fishkill and from there he made his escape. Law students today still learn from the mistakes of the justice system involving Garrow.
Lastly the author took the time to go over Robert Garrow's childhood of repeated beatings by both his mother and father. Here you learn how a monster was created.
