Our hero Ben is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house. She’s the boringest grandma ever: all she wants to do is to play Scrabble, and eat cabbage soup. But there are two things Ben doesn’t know about his grandma.
1) She was once an international jewel thief.
2) All her life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels, and now she needs Ben’s help…

Informationen zum Autor
David Walliams ist der erfolgreichste britische Kinderbuchautor der letzten Jahre und gilt als würdiger Nachfolger von Roald Dahl. In England kennt ihn jedes Kind.

She couldn't stop coming back to it every night. She could empathize with Ben, the kid in the story and also relate it with her own grandma. We laughed together at the silly moments quite a bit.
We will never forget the description of cabbage in the book.
Super cool and fun book for kids in the age range. Highly recommend.
One criticism: David Williams is known for his controversial innuendos....there were a few sexual innuendos, which I personally feel are unnecessary, if not lowering the standard that this book could have. Children should remain children for as long as possible. Imagination? Yes!! Fantasy? Yes!! Fun? Yes!!! But no innuendos, please. I skipped a few parts here and there or changed the wording. But, as a result of this .... I am, as a caring mother, disappointed, and am only giving 3 stars.
Great story line, great humour most of the time, but I won't be buying another David Walliams book.
