DanTheMan 2 Tower of Death - Hong Kong Cut Ultimately more a sequel in name only but if I can give Game of Death II one thing off the bat, it's that the incorporation of Bruce Lee footage is far less jarring here than it was in the Clouse film. While the footage there seemed shoehorned into the narrative, here the filmmakers attempt to try and build the film around the footage they have. However, it is still strange to think about how far Raymond Chow was willing to go in order to include this footage - it almost seems like he would have gone as far as digging up Bruce's grave if given the chance. If you can get over the fact this film has very little connection to Bruce Lee, especially in the alternate cuts dialling back how much footage of the man is used, what you'll be rewarded with is a nicely funded and strikingly designed movie with lots of well-staged and choreographed fights courtesy of Yuen Woo-ping, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao (who features in the film quite heavily for most of the fights). But outside of that, it's a bit of a snore-fest, only really picking up once it decides to stop using Bruce Lee footage mid-way through. But as a movie, it's terrible and was only made to capitalize off of Bruce Lee's popularity and death. Bruce Lee is only in it using stock footage. The decond half of the movie is midly enjoyable with good choreography in the fights, story starts gi make sense and the arrival of characters make you a little bit more engaged. There are moments in when action goes on and on until you dont care anymore. While the first "Game of Death" was bad enough, as least you got to see the fight scenes Bruce Lee filmed, just film throws in a bad movie around some more footage of Bruce Lee's funeral. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member List of pluses and minuses: + lots of kung fu fighting, at least 9 fights - really naive and corny exploitation of earlier films, especially Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon + Bruce Lee imitation is well done and the actor has obviously practiced Kung Fu - the dialogue is bad and the plot is a bit difficult to follow because it is too simple. - the humor is unintentional and the film looks silly, also because clips of real Lee have been inserted in some scenes. This was an Kung Fu & Bruce Lee exploitation film from year 1981. I had bought it long time ago on DVD, probably from some bargain sale in a supermarket and had forgotten to watch it. The actor who imitates Lee and lots of fights in a short film makes this film worth seeing because he makes it look like Bruce. Please note: Bruce Lee is NOT acting in this film. Just so you know.. Rated 2.5/5 Stars •  Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It's barely a sequel to the first, and again uses stock footage of Lee from previous films, plus actors that look nothing like him, but the best way to work around the fact that the main actor can no longer 'act'? Just kill his character off. In an unusual move, the main character is killed off, then replaced by his 'brother' who suddenly appears in the movie. There is just so much genre hopping in this movie that by the end, you'll think it's a science fiction film. It's actually a bit better than "Game Of Death", but it's a silly convoluted plot...
