We were on a brief (too brief) tour of Emilia Romagna. We love going to national museums and this is a lovely spot with very few tourists due to COvid 19. Unfortunately due to C19 many galleries were shut and we were disappointed not to get to see the beautiful Leonardo 'Scapilata'. However I got chatting to a curator/gallery assistant and she showed me the image on her PC and we had a lovely chat. She was super friendly and welcoming. Next time I am here I will definitely come back.
Worth a visit!!

Hidden gem! A fan of Leonardo Da Vinici, I had to see La Scapigliata in person and yet...there was so much more in this amazing collection of museums that make up the Pilotta. The theater was mind-blowing to view, the library impressive and the gallery that took one on a course through the palace structures...a wonderful day spent in a wonderful museum and in a lovely Italian city that just may be a hidden gem to Westerners.

This museum is housed in a former palace and although the building was being renovated during our visit, we were able to see the most part of its beautiful collection. There were unexpected gems to admire and we definitely recommend a visit!

Really a disappointment for the lack of honesty and transparency of the Museum Management. We arrived today at the Museum and to my great surprise and that of the group of Leonardo enthusiasts from Canada, Holland, the United States and Brazil having reached the room where Leonardo's Scapigliata should be on display we found an empty wall. No information, but the official who supervises the hall told us that the jewel of the Museum has been lent for the Show at the Louvre. At the Exit we asked for explanations at the ticket office recommending that we put a warning for future visitors also on the website. The lady at the ticket office told us how she was expressly instructed by Director Simone Verde to not alert any visitors.

I really enjoyed this Gallery. A wonderful selection and presented in an interesting way in a lovely setting. Don't miss the library with special exhibitions!

A delicate Da Vinci and an impressive Holbein are the headline acts but many stunning pieces from lesser known artists and all beautifully curated in an imaginatively designed series of galleries. One of the ‘“must sees” in Parma

My favorites were: Head of a Woman by Leonardo da Vinci, colossal sculptures of Hercules and Bacchus, Christ Healing the Blind by El Greco and Madonna and Child with Saints by Beato Angelico. A single combined ticket for 10 euros gets one access to the National Gallery, the Farnese Theater and the Archaeological Museum. All three are worth seeing.

Italian art at his best. Great Museum, a bit too much expensive but every dollar is worthed. One of my best visits in Parma.

We went first thing on a Tuesday morning, and were among very few visitors in the galleries. We were thrilled to get so close to these masterworks. The all-wood Teatro Farnese is in the same building (and included in the ticket price). You enter from the art gallery and suddenly you're on stage!

This is near an underground parking area if you are driving, so easy access. It was also part of a "three-for" ticket with the Farnese Theater, National Gallery and Archaeological Museum all in the same spot. The National museum was the main attraction, with extensive paitings and other works of art. The Theater was a section of the walking tour, and well worth a look; amazing. The Archaeological Museum was really an "add-on" for us and our least favorite part of the tour.

Are there lockers or a secure coat room at the National Gallery in Parma? (I see a similar question was asked some years ago - I want to verify that there is storage for bags and umbrellas now... in 2022.) Thank you.
