35 Years Ago Today – Tom Petty Releases Solo Debut ‘Full Moon Fever’

35 years ago today, Tom Petty released his debut solo LP Full Moon Fever. Petty’s first full-length without the Heartbreakers was Initially rejected by his label but summoned on 4/24/89. The LP features contributions from members of his band, including Mike Campbell, as well as Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison (who died prior to its release), and George Harrison.  Included on Full Moon Fever were universal hits “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “Free Fallin'” and “I Won’t Back Down.” Check out the classic animated video for “Runnin’ Down A Dream.
