I love you RedDevil85.

This is great news - FMJ I mean, not the love thing.

I'm sorry Jim but you can't go off topic when I'm declaring love for FMJ and Red Devil with nonsense about a half finished film.

And I'm sorry Oddball but EWS is better. I'm not the only one who thinks EWS is Kubrick's most underrated film.

Horses for courses... Ive seen FMJ too many times, its just not for me.

I love FMJ. Was singing the Mickey Mouse theme for weeks after first viewing. This is close to a day 1, not seen it since my teens.

Really stoked for this! Hoping for as stunning a re-release as The Shining was.

Almost in agreement with you here, although I'd argue that the first half of Full Metal Jacket is exceptional. However, once Private Pyles' story is finished, that's when I turn it off.

Eyes Wide Shut is indeed hugely underrated, couldn't agree with that more...

Yep. The two halves of the film don't mesh at all well for me. First half is very good. Second half? Meh.

I am in :)

The Book it's based on is even better The Short Timer,by Gustav Hasford, well worth picking up,in the book the story split into 3 parts,Boot Camp,Hue,The Jungle, but because Kubrick didn't like to travel,he wanted it filmed in the UK,the Jungle was cut out.

Didn't like to fly specifically was the issue. London Docklands were put to good use. What's always stood out for me is the lack of Hueys.

Probably just for old fogeys like me, but the audiobook of Matthew Modine’s Full Metal Jacket diary was a really good listen during my daily commute and really informative about the filming process, particularly what it was like to be on Stanley’s bad side.

US release date now down for 22nd September 2020 so UK shouldn't be far off.
Best Buy steelbook artwork (see attachment) is "interesting" to say the least...

Wow that steelbook is shocking! Some real contenders for worst steelbook art ever this year...

I know nearly every time I think I wouldn't mind a steelbook for this film or that film and then I see the artwork and it's... the standard 4K will do nicely thank you very much!

Heh. I'm not normally one to fuss over the covers (I won't even get the Steelbook), but some of the decisions on the covers seem to be made from fans rather than the studios/film makers. This one reminds me of the 'Kevin' character in Sin City lol.

I like to think the studio is doing me a favour when they release something poor, making it an easy pass.

Are these the sort of 'fans' who don't really buy physical media anyway? ;)
