At her best, Lulu was - and still is - one of Britain's finest singers. This skilfully compiled CD proves it. Lulu also recorded some songs that really don't bear repeated plays, but Rhino has wisely excluded them from this set. It is for that reason that I bought this CD instead of one of the various British compilations. The best of her British sixties hits are here, but anybody seeking Let's Pretend, Love loves to love love, I'm a tiger and Boom bang a bang can find them elsewhere easily enough.
Shout (a cover of an Isley brothers song) is what Lulu is best remembered for in Britain, while To sir with love (which includes the phrase From crayons to perfume in it's lyrics) is what Lulu is best remembered for in America. Both of them, though totally different types of song, show Lulu at her brilliant best.
Other classics include The boat that I row (a British hit, and the flip side of To sir with love, which remained the B side in Britain), Leave a little love (a lovely ballad), Oh me oh my (later covered by Aretha), The man with the golden gun (one of the best James Bond theme songs) and I could never miss you, a top 20 American hit.
Also worthy of mention is the weird David Bowie song, The man who sold the world. I didn't like it when it was first released, but I appreciate it better now.
So, I regard this as the best compilation of Lulu's early music, it being that rare breed - a compilation that includes all the great tracks without all the rubbish.

With the exception of the song "To Sir With Love", this piece of work is the most incongruous collection of songs I have ever listened to. I would not recommend this.

I bought this CD for one song. Morning Dew. Her rendition of this song, in the mid 1960's, has always stayed with me as one of the most beautiful versions ever sung. Her voice was angelic. I purchased this Rhino "Greatest Hits" version and thought, I'd finally found that one song missing in my collection that brings back so many fond memories of the Sixties, but boy was I surprised. This is not the version heard on AM radio back some 43 years ago that I have searched for. Rhino does such a magnificent job of bringing back all the great music from the past. I just wish they had put the "REAL VERSION" of Morning Dew on this "Greatest Hits" CD.
Now it seems that I will have to search the used record stores for that 1960's Vinyl Album to get the "Correct" version of Morning Dew that I have been searching for.

From her version of Shout!!! recorded before the Beatles and James Brown to her classic movie themes this woman has a voice that needs to be heard.
When I found out about her US tour, I scheduled tickets AND got a Combo Album of her various great hits. Although I do not agree that these are all her best tunes--they are good and fair and minus a solid remastering--the best collection she has.
Do not ignore her. She's a LuLu!!!

Lulu's greatest hits. I especially like: "To Sir with Love" and "Oh Me, Oh My"

"To Sir With Love" is so clean, it's sounds as if you're in the studio. Comes as no surprise to this reviewer, always having good luck with Rhino releases. Collectors will also like the fact this CD includes Lulu's last hit from the early 80's: "I Could Never Miss You", a hard to find single until Rhino included it in the compliation.

Good mix of hits she is known for and more obscure covers. Love her cover of Morning Dew. Great to see Jeff Beck's cover sung by Rod Stewart isn't the only great version of this classic.

LULU (from crayons to perfume-best) CD
