Very pretty venue. But one cannot ignore the extremely uncomfortable seats. I made the mistake of ignoring the warnings by attending a film screening here. As others have mentioned, there is too little space between the rows, so unless you are very tiny, you will be very uncomfortable. The seats are old and have climate control built into them (I know, so strange) so it would take a huge investment to replace them.

This discomfort makes this a questionable place for anyone who isn't small.

I am very happy to read that you’ve liked our VIVID Grand Show. Allow me to give you a little hint: On your next visit, it may be worthwhile to choose a seat at the aisle. From personal experience I know that it is very pleasant to be able to stretch your legs in between. Also in row 3 and 10 you have, because of the wider passages there, an excellent seating comfort. Long time ago missed FSP dozens of Europe's best legs and everything else. Well, current FSP in different Germany. Still everything works like clock work. On time, clean, alles in ordnung limited or shy spontaneity. Perhaps expected more of The Cabaret, naughty Decadence style. May be it is gone to another place in Berlin. Anyway very pleasing experience. Congrats to everyone involved in FSP down to top, no exception. Will recomend to everyone.
Good on ya, cheers

Thank you for your visit of the VIVID Grand Show. It is great to read, that you enjoyed our VIVID Grand Show, although the plot does not stick. For the whole staff and me it is the best thing to know, that we managed to excite our audience. Thank you for reading this. Dr. Berndt Schmidt General Director

Vivid was our third show we attended at the "Palast". I liked very much the previous shows, espacially the "Grand one show" with the costumes of Gaultier. Characteristic for Vivid is the "hat-couture" of Philip Treacy, which is far less spectacular than the Gaultier-costumes. Unfortunately the show is not suitable for children even if i have seen some. Apart from that Vivid is again an entertaining show. What I don't understand is why the owner is so fixated on foreign guests, which has sometimes a detrimental effect on local guests. The english flyer is easier to get than the german one. The artists are from everywhere, the style & story is not easy to descibe and the show is at least bilingual. Despite the focus on the foreign target group, most visitors come from Germany. Honestly i havn't seen anyone from abroad.

Thank you for your visit of the VIVID Grand Show and that you liked our Grand Show so much except for the few points mentioned above. We always wish to enthuse all our guests – but with approximately 2000 guests each evening that’s simply impossible. We do of course strive to ensure that every single guest leaves the theatre utterly enthralled. Every production has its own character and style, so of course the costumes are unique as well. We understand that tastes differ and appreciate that you adored the costumes from THE ONE Grand Show more. Every new designer brings a new signature to the Grand Show. In VIVID the famous milliner Philip Treacy designed each and every single hat piece. Berlin is a vibrant city and so is the Palast. We are proud of our diverse employees and our visitors are indeed from abroad, as you can easily see on Tripadvisor, where we have ratings from visitors all over the world. to be honest i didnt know what to expect. i had seen on this website it was the number one things to do at night in berlin, so i just had to go. booked the tickets online and printed them out. they do student discount which is great! we bout the 2nd cheapest seats in the house, 7 rows from the front to the left. the cheapest tickes is about €20 and the dearest id about €110. i am not big into dancing myself and neither is my boyfriend so again we didn't know what to expect. we were pleasantly surprised. the dancers were amazing and had us in awe. our cheap seats turned out to be brilliant, only thing was they weren't center and therefore we missed out on the moving face in the middle(when you go you will see what i mean) i don't want to spoil the show by going into details but the dancing was really really brilliant, the dancers deserve every penny, and the show was worth every penny. i have never been to a cabaret, but will definitely go again. it is great for something different rather than sitting in a bar for the night. the show is spoken in german, but there is not a lot of dialog. the songs are in english. it is grand for non german speaking tourists.

Staying in Berlin for a few days, we followed the advice of every city guide and booked seats for the show. Everything looked great when we came in : nice personnel, superb building, felt like going at the Opera. Getting to our seats, we discovered the huge scene and floorplan. We were both very excited for the show to start.

Then it started and we did not really understand what was happening. Lots of flashy effects, dancers everywhere, but no sense of direction. The show is supposed to be accessible for people not speaking German but this is not true : half of the story is told in German (but hey, we're in Germany so it makes sense, just be aware of it).

So, the show continues and it does not get better, singing is okay ish, dancing is sometimes great (beautiful duo of women dancing in a minimalist setting) until it's not ('Savage' like people coming to attack them for no reason).

And then, just before the halftime break, 5 long minutes of painful French cancan... Another review complained about the racial and sexiste issues and I can't agree more. Yes things can be sexy, if it has a purpose. Here it was just cheap display of body. I'm not a prude, I went to other shows who displays sexiness and enjoyed it. In this case it felt like late night new year's eve shows like Lido or Crazy Horse.

We left quickly at the break, we could not bear another hour of this.

Now, people seem to enjoy it so we are probably the outliers, but if you like things that are well thought, classy and do not feel like a school show with a ton of budget, go see something else.

Thanks for your visit. I’m very sorry we were unable to impress you. Our greatest wish would of course have been for you to also leave the Palast with a smile on your face. The production team, costume department and choreographers put a lot of thought into all aspects of our production. Ultimately, our goal is always to put on a great show: vibrant, varied, entertaining – in all of the elements presented, namely costumes, music, story and dance. How individuals receive these elements is undoubtedly a matter of taste though. While we try very hard to find the perfect mix for all guests, with an audience of almost 2,000 at every performance, meeting the tastes of each and every guest is virtually impossible. Of course we also play with sexiness and eroticism – we are a revue show after all! Sexiness has been a part of the revue art form since the Golden Twenties, as has the body culture of beautiful women and men. Saying that, there was actually far more nudity on theatre stages in the 1920s than there is today, 100 years later! We do not show any pornographic elements however. What we show is sexy in parts, but by no means crude. As already mentioned, how individuals receive these scenes is entirely a matter of taste; you like it or you don’t – and either is perfectly fine! It’s a pity we didn’t meet your taste this time round. Thanks for reading this. Dr. Berndt Schmidt General Director

My second visit to the palast, last time in 2004 it was all old hat stuff but very good. This time it was ultra modern and mesmerising. The staging and music blew me away, it was mega cool like a show from Las Vegas but without the extortionate prices. The choreography was out of this world carried out by lots of athletic beautiful people. The show contained everything for all age groups ,all nations and all genders, probably a little to controversial for the 70 plus genration but a must!!!!! My daughter who is 9 was more than impressed😊

The show pretends to be be much more than what it is. Apart from the grandiose costumes, some of the stage effects and the two or three moments in which the great acrobats took the stage the rest of the show run tiredly from start to finish with mediocre music, choreography and most of all lack of cohesion in terms of story and art direction. Just pieces randomly and pretentiously assembled together for the sake of impressing (the mystifying so called extravaganza) but ultimately leaving a lot of spectators I assume entirely indifferent if not annoyed. Pity because the technical side of the production and the costumes were great and deserved to be implemented in a better thought out and conceived story and direction. One can definitely find a better way to spend time and money in Berlin by watching some worthwhile theatre staged spectacle.

I absolutely accept that you did not like our show and I am really sorry about that. We do of course strive to ensure that every single guest leaves the Palast utterly enthralled. Indeed, for the vast majority of people, we succeed in this. With half a million very different guests every year, 95% are positive, 5% like you are not. In cultural circles (where opinions tend to differ widely and are particularly emotional), 95% positive reviews is huge proof of confidence. After all, everyone has different tastes. This is a good thing, and it is also good form not to question matters of taste, but rather simply to accept them. Thank you for reading this. Dr. Berndt Schmidt General Director

I understand the show only has a few more weeks to run. If you are in Berlin and fancy a break from the nightly round of 'find a restaurant for supper' you could do a lot worse. We felt that we had shared a Saturday night with a few thousand Berliners in a venue which puts most London theatres to shame. Impressive foyer & balconies, polite and friendly ushering staff and comfortable seats with a clear view of the stage & enough leg room.

The show itself was a circus with some humour and plenty of attitude. Some fantastic athletes performing jaw dropping stunts, great dance routines and yes, some dogs. All of this with an ever changing backdrop of lights, images and music. We left with beaming faces as it appeared did pretty much everyone else.

What a show! Words can not describe the performance. We enjoyed every moment, and was sometimes so amazed by the performances that we forgot the applause.

The performances, and the beautiful venue, is a must when visiting Berlin.
