Limmie and the Family Cookin were a family group from Ohio, USA comprising brother and sisters Limmie, Jimmie and Martha Snell.

They had 2 top 10 hits - You Can Do Magic ( no 3 ) and this song A Walkin' Miracle ( no 6 ).

Edmonds circa 1974 bears a close resemblance to a cocker spaniel.

    CHART RUNDOWN

Yes that was Freddie Starr, the comedian, in the chart rundown.

He got to number 9 earlier in then year with a ballad called It's You.

In 1975 he recorded a version of White Christmas - that got to number 41 in the charts.

Close. Genesis were 29 at this point with something.

I'm tempted to say Genesis in the countdown counts as a Collins appearance and leave in a huff.

I wonder if any of the teenage audience spot themselves on BBC4 50 years later?

    SONG OF THE NIGHT

Two weeks ago we saw Mud in 1978, when they were way past their best , doing an Eddie Cochran cover.

Here they are in 1974 at the peak of their powers.

After the magnificent Dyna-Mite, the massive number 1 Tiger Feet , we now have the glam-rock-tastic The Cat Crept In which was on its way to number 2 behind Terry Jacks and Abba.

Mud will finish 1974 with the Christmas number 1 - their Elvis pastiche Lonely This Christmas.

Lead singer Les Gray and drummer Dave Mount are no longer with us.

Guitarist Rob Davis ( on the left ) now earns a living as a songwriter - he has had a hand in writing 2 big number 1s - Groovejet ( If This Ain't Love ) by Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor - and he co-wrote Kylie's million seller Can't Get You Out Of My Head with Cathy Dennis.

What was that joke about all glam bands being four blokes who look like brickies and a pretty-boy frontman, except for Mud, who were just four brickies.

    Isn't on tonight... ;)

    This one is though.

This is pretty good. 'Dynamite' was Mud's best song for me though.

You wouldn't want to see a studio performance of I Know What I Like In Your Wardrobe?!!!
