But Kelly Macdonald seemed determined to cast her marital woes aside on Wednesday, as she cut a cheerful figure at the Goodbye Christopher Robin world premiere in London.
The 41-year-old Boardwalk Empire actress, who looked chic in a navy velvet suit, flashed a chirpy smile during her first red carpet appearance since news emerged of the split.

The mother-of-two exuded elegance in her stylish co-ords, which featured a round belt and feather embellishment.
She injected a dose of sparkle to her look with a decadent pair of silver courts and accessorised with pearl earrings.
Scottish actress Kelly, whose previous screen credits include Trainspotting and No Country For Old Men, features as Christopher's nanny, Olive, in the biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin.

Kelly's outing comes after it was revealed last Sunday that she had split from Douglas, 44, who is the bassist for the Scottish band Travis.
The couple - who married in 2003 - share Theodore William Payne, aged four, and Freddie Peter Payne, aged nine.
Publicist Craig Bankey said that although the couple would have preferred to keep the information private, they separated several months ago, and are united in parenting their two children.

The 41-year-old is known for her roles in movies including Trainspotting, Gosford Park, Nanny McPhee and No Country For Old Men.
Most famously, she also appeared in HBO's Boardwalk Empire for five seasons, receiving both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
And her latest turn is in Goodbye Christopher Robin. Set in the 1920s, the forthcoming film will centre on Milne as he draws inspiration for his most iconic character through his relationship with his young son Christopher.
Christopher will be played at different stages in his life by young actors Will Tilston and Alex Lawther.
The film provides a rare glimpse into Christopher's world, whose toys served as an inspiration to the magical world of the iconic Winnie the Pooh.
