My deepest condolences to all you Bayern fans regarding Beckenbauer's death. Although I hardly remember him playing for Germany I know what huge impact he had, not only in german football, but football in general. RIP Der Kaiser, you had (and have) my greatest respect.

Incredible player. Unfortunately I'm far too young to have watched him play.

Yep, sad day for football.
I remember Der Kaiser well, what a player. One of the few defenders I would consider for inclusion in the all time top ten players.
Of course he played midfield too, in the 1966 World Cup, for example.
A true legend, both for club and country and an all time great, even if the shot he put past Bonetti in 1970 was a heartbreaker for me as England lost 3 2

I didn't know Bonetti so I Googled him and found out he also died at the age of 78, and was nicknamed "the cat" much like Beckenbauer's teammate for both club and country.

Watching these old matches I wonder if a mid table club would beat them by gegenpressing them in a way they've never quite seen before.

Really gutted for Franz, such a gentleman and a legend. If I have some time I will try to add some CSS to BayernForum and turn the site grayscale for some time.

Der Kaiser.

One of the greatest players to play the game, for me he's the best German player of all time.

That was a hit in the heart today afternoon when I opened social networks and the first posts were about his death.

The whole world and Bayern from today won't be the same as it was. We lost our greatest player of all time, the player, the coach, the president, the unconditional Bayern fan, one great personality and charisma.

Franz has shaken the entire club and everyone today. We lost Gerd, was a huge loss, but this... my God... that time we never want and wanted to come today has come. :(

Thank you for everything, Kaiser Franz! God rest your soul. As long as we're alive, we are never going to forget you! [-o<
