Frank Lampard is spotted for the first time since being sacked by Everton as he takes wife Christine for lunch at The Ivy after returning to London following his failed Toffees stint

Frank Lampard has been spotted for the first time since he was sacked as Everton manager last month, as he and his wife Christine went for some lunch at The Ivy in Chelsea Garden.

The 44-year-old kept a low profile as he wrapped up warm for the outing, dressing all in black while wearing a beanie and gilet when he visited the swanky restaurant.

Their trip out for some lunch in west London comes over a week after he was dismissed from his role as Everton's manager following the team's disastrous run of form.

The Chelsea legend was sacked after a 2-0 defeat by West Ham, which was the Toffees' 11th loss in their last 14 games in all competitions. 

Last Thursday, Lampard broke his silence on his sacking as he took to social media in which he admitted he was 'disappointed' that he couldn't achieve more at Goodison Park.

Alongside a photo of him celebrating alongside Everton fans, he wrote: 'Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season. 

'Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together. I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared. 

Lampard was sacked by Everton last month after a poor run of 11 losses in 14 games

'I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family. It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history. 

'I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future.'

The former Chelsea and Derby boss was told his 357-day spell in charge had come to an end during a phone call with Farhad Moshiri, Everton’s major shareholder.

Lampard had 18 months left on the contract he signed on January 31 last year. 

It has been a hugely challenging time for Lampard, who had a grown to have a huge affinity for the club, was enjoying living in the North West and was desperate to bring success to a set of fans who had never given him anything other than public support.

He had seen Everton miss out on a number of transfer targets that he was keen on – most notably Danny Ings, who left Aston Villa to join West Ham – and was on the back foot from the start of the season after Richarlison was sold to Tottenham.

Everton’s problems on the field are best encapsulated by the fact they have only scored two goals or more in two of their 20 Premier League games and the lack of firepower has led to a draining of confidence.

Lampard has also had to deal with disciplinary issues within his squad and last week was forced to send Abdoulaye Doucoure to train on his own following an exchange after the 2-1 defeat to Southampton on January 14.

Everton have since hired Sean Dyche as his successor, who has now been tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League.

The Merseyside club are currently 19th, level on points with rock-bottom Southampton, having won just three times in the Premier League all season.
