Actor. Fondly remembered for his role as general store owner Sam Drucker in the TV comedy series "Petticoat Junction" (1963 to 1970) and "Green Acres" (1965 to 1971). His initial exposure to performing was during high school as he participated in some plays, however his aspirations were to become a news journalist. While studying Journalism at Stanford University, he was drawn back to the stage as a writer for a school production. Following graduation in 1938, he experienced his break in entertainment in Britain with the BBC, in addition to performing at the Westminster Theatre. Following service with the U.S. Military during World War II, he had a string of uncredited and bit parts in motion pictures for the remainder of the 1940s. Over the next two decades, Cady was a recognizable presence to TV audiences and secured his first recurring role as Doc Williams in the series "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" (1953 to 1964). His final television credit was his repeating of Sam Drucker for the 1990 TV-movie "Return to Green Acres" (1990).
