Wolves sign winger Francisco Trincao on loan from Barcelona with option to buy

Trincao made 42 appearances for Barcelona last season in all competitions

Wolves have signed Portugal winger Francisco Trincao on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

The deal includes a "a non-compulsory option to buy" the 21-year-old, who joined the Spanish club from Portuguese side Braga in the summer of 2020.

Trincao made 28 league appearances for Barcelona last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, and seven Champions League outings.

His arrival follows Wolves' signing of Colombian defender Yerson Mosquera.external-link

"He's a really exciting player," said the Premier League club's technical director Scott Sellars of Trincao.

"It's an area we'd like more competition, in terms of wide players. I think the fans are going to enjoy watching him play. He drives with the ball well and has good creativity."

    Blimey, lots of sour grapes on here. The Portugal and Mendes jibes are getting a bit old. Sorry if your club isn't doing much in the transfer market! Good luck to him, looks a good signing for Wolves.

    Excellent signing for wolves, he's been on and off linked with leicester and I really liked the idea of us signing him, loads of potential so fair play to wolves hope he does well!

    Since 1920 Villa have won 1 top flight league title and 1 FA cup. Wolves have won 3 top flight league titles and 2 FA Cups. Poor man's Villa. Don't make me laugh.

    Adama is more dangerous dribbling through the middle instead of being on the wing waiting to outrun people. So Trincoa can play on the right and Neto on the left.

    Looks a good signing. Hope he does well for Wolves next season - if their new manager adds a couple more like this, they could well have a decent season playing more attack-minded football. Nuno looked drained of energy last season and it showed in Wolves' play - a good move for all parties.

    Good to see elements of the exhilarating-at-times Nuno era still in play.
    I didn’t want to comment on Nuno on the Spurs manager HYS as I feared the hands my message could have fallen into - his legacy and mannerisms will live long in the hearts of true Wolves fans.
    I was saddened to see Nuno’s Worcester Street artwork dawdled over in non-football rhetoric - back to the top half next season.

    No guarantees that he’ll be any kind of success with Wolves, but when I’ve seen him he’s been excellent. Problem for him at Barca his he appears to play best coming from the right. ‘Someone’ else already has that spot nailed down...

    It's all about entertainment and Wolves are just trying to add to the Premiership product. It's not right when teams buy players from teams only to see them benched it denies the fans of entertainment. Liverpool do this it's annoying, we used to see Shaquiri, Jota etc every week.

    With Barcelona in decline this is a step forward. He will play against the best ones in the world, too. Great place to grow and multiply the talent he has got. Wolves are there to stay for years to come and no one cares they are called a Portugal of the EPL.
