  1. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

France have now progressed in all six of their World Cup last-16 ties. Actually it's 7/7 if you count 1938 when there were only 16 teams and a straight knockout.

  2. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Kylian Mbappe has now scored exactly 250 goals in 360 appearances for club and country.

That is 250 goals before he turns 24. Unbelievable.

  3. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

    Golden Boot

Kylian Mbappe scored four goals at the last World Cup, only behind Harry Kane on six.

But he looks in a good place to win the Golden Boot this time.

  4. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

    Olivier Giroud

It will probably almost be forgotten after another Kylian Mbappe masterclass but Olivier Giroud became France's all-time top scorer tonight with goal number 52.

Thierry Henry had held the record for over a decade.

  5. Post update

Here is that Robert Lewandowski goal.

  6. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Only Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo (118) and Hungary's Ferenc Puskas (84) have netted as many international goals as Poland's Robert Lewandowski (78) for a European nation.

Lewandowski's goal took him above Pele's 77 to put him ninth in the all-time leading men's international goalscorers.

  7. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

    Rio Ferdinand

Former England defender on BBC One

You get a sense that Kylian Mbappe is just toying with his opponent. He's that good, quick, explosive and knows he can just go past any of his opponents.

I just love being here watching players like this and seeing what they can do.

  8. All the build-up to England's game

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

For more on the news that Bukayo Saka has been recalled by Gareth Southgate for England's last-16 game against Senegal, click here.

We'll continue to bring you reaction to France's win over Poland on this page.

  9. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Only Just Fontaine - who netted a record 13 goals all in 1958 - has scored more World Cup goals for France than Kylian Mbappe's nine.

Thierry Henry is next on six goals.

  10. Mbappe performs on the biggest stage

    France 3-1 Poland

With five goals and two assists, Kylian Mbappe has been directly involved in each of France's last seven goals at the World Cup.

    Kylian Mbappe
  11. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Only 13 players have ever scored more World Cup goals than Kylian Mbappe's nine (in 11 games).

Six of those players are on 10 - so he's just one behind them.

Today Mbappe overtook Cristiano Ronaldo (eight goals in 20 games) and Diego Maradona (eight goals in 21 games).

  12. 'A display of French swagger'

    France 3-1 Poland

    Chris Sutton

Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Going into the game I had a strong feeling that Poland couldn't compete with France. They competed better than I thought they would but once Olivier Giroud got the opener, Poland had to change their game plan.

Eventually it came down to Kylian Mbappe and a couple of wonderfl finishes from him.

This was a strong performance from France. There are tougher tests to come but it was a display of French swagger and a statement that we are still the team to beat.

    Kylian Mbappe
  13. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Now here's Kylian Mbappe's second goal.

  14. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

    Mauricio Pochettino

Former Argentina defender on BBC One

France need to put the level up collectively, individual performances were good - Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud.

But they need to come together as a team.

  15. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

Here was Kylian Mbappe's first goal. We'll have the other goals ready to see soon.

  16. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

France certainly look as if they are capable of retaining the World Cup this month.

They have been far from perfect - but no team have blown everyone away in Qatar.

    Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski
  17. Post update

    France 3-1 Poland

    Dion Dublin

Former England striker on BBC One

Great for Robert Lewandowski to get on the scoresheet.

I don't like that penalty technique but he's put it in the back of the net.

  18. FULL-TIME

    France 3-1 Poland

    It's all over.

France will play England or Senegal on Saturday for a place in the World Cup semi-final.

  19. GOAL - France 3-1 Poland

    Robert Lewandowski

Probably the final touch of Robert Lewandowski's World Cup career is his second goal of the tournament.

Hugo Lloris goes one way and Lewandowski slots it the other way.
