Genesis – Foxtrot

After carefully appreciating this edition, comparing it with the first edition, I was thinking of discarding some, mainly because the first press was a bit busy and dirty. However, during the year I took time to better calibrate the turntable, and the arm, better cables as well. Now I was able to audition the two copies quite calmly, time for each side, over and over again. Finally I will keep the two LPs. This is very close to the original, it is softer, less clear at times, although it is very faithful to the recording, musically analog-not digital, the instruments and voices stand out and delineate, and its price is very affordable. The first, for its part, is not the most Hi-Fi either, as expected in progressive rock.
The one from 1972 is extraordinary in 1972 rock, musically and more, perhaps it would have been excellent with better engineering in the recording studio, therefore I will try to find a better copy of that original, which is difficult, for two reasons:1.There are few original copies from 1972 in NM condition.2.Current Discogs prices are excessively high for most NM vinyl.

I wouldn't look for another one in better condition. I recommend a good copy of this to start your search.

This may be a problem of my copy only, but basically there's no treble, which makes everything sound dull and somewhat muddy. Cd-version of the original mix (not the later "remasters") was much better.

Cannot recommend this version highly enough , especially given the fairly low price it goes for. Having compared to a UK reissue and the definitive editon cd remaster, this one sounds amazing. Dead quiet vinyl, very detailed and dynamic pressing. I have ‘Nursery Cryme’ on the same virgin red/blue label reissue and it too sounds better than other versions I’ve heard (but the overall quality of the source recording for that one is far less impressive than Foxtrot).

Got a VG+ copy of this at a very affordable price point. Sound is super impressive: big and well-defined. I have found this to be true of many Canadian pressings of this vintage.

I guess it doesn't hurt to add my comments on this amazing pressing. Clean, pure, accurate, dynamic. Truly outstanding in every way. Purchased directly from Amazon. Mine has the Made In Germany sticker on the back.

This copy of the album honestly sounds way better than my 1975 UK pressing. No weird EQ stuff going on here. A bit loud at parts, but if you want a cheap copy of this album which sounds halfway decent, this one actually stands up well! I'm sure you can find better copies out there but this one sounds great to my ears, especially for the CA$8 I paid for it.

Horrible como todos los primeros prensajes de Genesis en Argentina hechos por Phillips. En los 80s se relanzaron varios discos de la banda ya por Virgin los cuales suenan muy bien y donde las tapas respetan las ediciones originales en ingles.

my copy looks pristine visually but crackles. There is almost no bass and high frequencies at all, dynamics greatly diminished. Plays muffled and bass shy at the same time. I assume something went wrong during the pressing, or the mastering, or both!

Here we have a very good album by Genesis, but unfortunatly this German pressing sounds not so good. I think that recording and production are good but the vinyl quality is probably bad.
