Jelisije J A very good serious drama about a young man trying for glory and being torn between his brother and his abusive mental unstable coach. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Alec C The price for victory can come at the cost of your self-esteem and your respect! Wrestler Mark Schultz wishes to escape his brothers shadow which leads him to John E. Du Pont, a wealthy trainer whose mentorship brings him great success but also emotional abuse that brings him low. Dark in its exploration of insecurity and negative influences, this is an emotional story where family is the ties that bind! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Alec B I respect the attempt to turn such a strange and obscure event into a movie but I think Miller's a little too vague in regards as to why this event needs to be explored. There's definitely something to du Pont's bizarre obsession with the imagery and language of "patriotism", but it seems that more should have been done with it instead of focusing so much on his need to please his mother. Still the film is effectively chilling and features unsurprisingly good performances from Ruffalo and Carell and surprisingly solid work from Tatum. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Pasquale M Great movie and devastating that it's all true, great acting and cast. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Toms B Cumple. Gran actuación de Steve Carrell Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review Ben N Flat and ponderous, lacking in good direction. A shame as the tale is interesting and tragic, the actors were capable and true to form, the sets and makeup quality. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online While the acting is mostly impressive, the ending of the film leaves much to be desired as screenwriters E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman's script simply flutters to a close without much of an impact. Rated: B- Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire In the back hour, the music quietly turns the screws, and Miller stops letting the air in, and I realized that a knot had formed in my chest. Jun 18, 2016 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press [Miller] is equally adept at portraying the peculiarities of wrestling here, and how those physical moves -- beautifully choreographed and executed -- sync with deeper psychological currents. Dec 11, 2015 Full Review Diego Batlle Otroscines.com Miller exposes in detail the fighter's physical experience and the tensions between these two brothers, and then contrasts them with the world of the eccentric philanthropist and benchmark of the powerful chemical emporium... Rated: 4/5 Aug 20, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Because Miller and his writers have left so much up for interpretation about du Pont’s motivations, attentive moviegoers are required to soak up the fine distinctions in the three central performances.
